I think there is a world outside my door...at least when I leave the keyboard long enough to check.

I celebrate it as a "Winter Festival" and move the birthday of Jesus to when it most likely occured....four days before Passover. Breaking tradition really confuses people in my Church and with my neighbors. But it also gives me a chance to witness too.

...Christian ladies. Members of the Church watch them to make sure they do not make friends. If the divorcee gets too friendly...then it is time to pull them aside and remind them that they should not be too friendly or it will be brought before the Church (I kid you not...I have have just talked to a brother in the Lord who nearly quit over an incident like this. He has been divorced over 15 yrs and his Christian wife divorced him. He has followed the Bible straight down the line....and he is treated like he is the one out of order).

Being married to a Christian does not guarntee that a divorce will not happen. But when it does...what do we do with the victim of a divorce who had obeyed the Lord in every area...but finds they are single against their will? Deny them friendships? Discourage them from courting? Deny them remarriage at your Church since the diviorce was for reasons other than adultery...regardless of fault?
I think knowing the grace of God and His love towards sinners should have us not take a hardline, black or white stance on this issue.

Mark 10:5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.

1 Corinthians 7:10 And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband: 11 But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. 12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. 13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

I did not vote...since having gone through two divorces I have learned the reason for divorce is complex and not easy to catagorize.

Sometimes a Christian man or lady get into a marriage where some time passes and their spouse changes and fights for a divorce against their will. They loose the fight and find they are single. They work for years at reconciliation...and then this falls through when their ex remarries.

Now what are they to do? They did not commit adultery, desert their spouse, abuse them physically or mentally, or neglect them. In IFB Churches they are stigmatized and kept from even making friends with single....

I was married twice and divorced twice. Long story....but I blame myself for what went wrong.

My last divorce was over 15 years ago. Cannot find a Christian lady to date in Utah. I cannot shake the stigma divorce has for me that hinders dating. I'm like a used car of another era that has too many miles that nobody is interested in.

I have tried Christian singles and spent hundreds of dollars and gotten little to nothing for my efforts.

I was talking to my brother Ray after Church today. He shared the same frustration. In his case...he married a Christian woman who for her own reasons initiated the divorce. He worked to reconcile for ten years. But when she started to sleep with another man...he began to look for another wife. But in IFB Churches women are taught not to go out with those who are divorced....he cannot even make a friend with Christian ladies because of the stigma of being divorced. So he is starting to look for unsaved ladies to date....since Christian ladies treat him like he has a disease. At our Church he was just talking to a lady who visited our Church in the parking lot. A sister in the Church took him to task for doing so. He nearly left our Church. So I can relate with his frustration and loneliness.

My parents went to Southern Baptist Churches. The Church where I received Christ was Foothill Baptist in Angels Camp Ca...March 22, 1971. I was 12 1/2 years old.

Conviction started at 6 years old during the communion. I would cry to think Jesus had to die.

Awareness I was the sinner for whom Jesus dies for came when I was ten after I memorized Romans 5:8 during VBS.

For spring quarter our Sunday School chart was a crown of thorns. Each Sunday we attended we glued a square of another picture. Two weeks before Easter my chart became a jeweled crown. Pastor Lambert preached on the crown of thorns and the crown of jewels. At the invistation I went forward an made public my faith in Jesus.

For the "rest of the story"

There is not "all of the above" so I choose "Other." But I would also add:

*****************************
Not going out soulwinning.
*****************************

Bible reading and study is input.

Prayer is communication.

Church membership and attendence is community.

Soulwinning is outreach to add to the Church, to help us pray for the lost, and to study the Bible and memorize scripture so we have a ready answer about the hope we have.

If the faith I have is not reproducing....then what am I producing for God?

I voted "Other" because I listen whenever I get the time to. I prefer Sermon Audio over the T.V. and other sermon sites.

I attend Jordan Valley Baptist Church (IFB). Harley Johnson is our Pastor. We have ten members and with visitors we can have on a good day...twenty five.

Tuesday we go out door to door every week.

Thursday is our Prayer and Bible Study.

We cooperate and fellowship with Grace Baptist and Trinty Baptist. The other IFB Churches in the Valley are KJVO and do not want us as a part of their fellowship. Most of our members have come from and out of these churches.

We have sent a member of our Church to the missionaries we support in Africa...the Grings.

We have a Bible collage in India that are training and sending out Pastors.

Northwest Baptist Mission is reaching areas here that are predominately Catholic or Mormon.

But Africa I see has the greatest need. The work we are doing is being turned over by Islam or Revolutions.

I am disappointed with the Party system. I can never find a polititian of any party that stays true to the principles of the party. I lean to Republican....but the represenitives of this party has not practiced what they preached before they were voted in.

Faithful Remnant: It simply says "Thou shalt be saved."

Jeremiah: It say quite a bit...and yet not all of it...so I agree. There is no one comprehensive verse or chapter that incorperates every aspect. It is disigned by God to make it simple to give an aspect say like John 3:16...for the sinner to hear and respond to the gospel. Only after they are saved that we systematically go over the principle of 'being saved,' 'born again,' 'sealed,' and 'annointed,'
Personally I end my gospel presentation with Romans 10:8-17. It helps the seeker know what they need to confess about their faith in Jesus to be saved.

R & S: Jerry I was too part of the IBC movment thinking i could stay with a church that didn,t really have any standards except those they thought best but the rest they would explain it away.

Jeremiah: Yes...there are bad apples. I'm sorry to hear you found one. I enjoy the IFB Church I attend here. They love the Lord and each other. We are working hard here to get out the glorious gospel out here in Salt Lake City.

R & S: You are better to read sound people who are not going to teach you what you want to hear, it seem by your general comment you were look for people to go against the KJV Only crowd in which all who belive such noncence would be easyly revieled.

Jeremiah: I am trained in speech, logic and debate. So I do weigh the pros and cons. I just cannot communicate to you of my pages of notes I worked on. I weighed KJVO and found it wanting. It is a distraction and destroyer of the IFB movement as we have turned to biting and devouring one another...instead of Church planting and evangelism as we once did.

R & S: But as I said the KJV is the best translation and should be used for edifying the saints. This the stand of the Trinitarian Bible society as I know it too. They will use other translation in other countryies until a better translation can come.

Jeremiah: But it is not the only translation and not always the "best" in all areas. But if it is what is used...then conform. But if someone comes with another translation...will you forbid them to read from it?

R & S: Which translation "s"

Jeremiah: KJV, RSV, ASV, NASV, Amplified, NIV, Youngs Literal, Green's Literal, Net Bible, Modern KJV, that I would recommend.

R & S: you still haven,t delt with the text that could be corrupt that all other versern use and are missleding. They dont agree with each other in 3000 place alone in the Gosples. do you think this is alrming.I hope you see this, that it is alrming.

Jeremiah: In my KJVO days...yes. But not now. I cannot explain it all here. Just start at www.kjvonly.org and go from there.

R & S: No worries about thinking i was part of the only group but insist that the KGV is the best. there is a world of diferance.

Jeremiah: I still prefer and use the KJV...but not alone....and not without a little knowledge of Greek too. The KJV was slanted to favor baptismal regenerationist of the Church of England...and it is the one doctrine hard to fight with any translation with this slant.

R & S: No worries about my mistake. I dont read people all that well over the internet, prefer to talk in person.

Jeremiah: Agreed....this is a limited medium to communicate with.

The "immersion" in the Holy Spirit was fulfilled at Pentecost as Jesus said would happpen.

Acts 1:5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."

Acts 2:4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit...

Acts 2:17 & 18 I will pour out my Spirit on all people..

Acts 2:32 He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear.

Acts 2:38 ...receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

From here on out...the term "baptized with the Holy Spirit" falls away and "receive the Holy Spirit" come into usage.

Paul said that now the Holy Spirit is the agent of baptism to identifiy all beievers with the body of Christ...the Church.

1 Corinthians 12:13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body - whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free - and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.

This is the "baptism" referred to in Ephesians 4:5 for the purpose "to keep the unity of the Spirit" Ephesians 4:3.

Once we "receive the Spirit" we are 'sealed,' and 'annointed.' We need to make sure we keep on being filled with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18, Acts 4:31
