Other IFB's have accused these saints of not being saved because they did not come to Jesus under the preaching and teaching of the KJV in a IFB Church (I kid you not).

I am for the fundimentals...and the KJV is NOT listed among the 5 or seven we defend. I am more interest concerning such Christians that they have come to faith in Christ. The issue of translations can be worked out later...with grace and in the gentleness and meekness of Christ. As Paul said:
14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly. 15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. F3 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice... Philippians 1:14-20

My interest is to promote the cause of Jesus Christ in reaching a lost world with the gospel and defend the faith.

Greetings R & S

My concern with the KJV issue is that the zeal some have for their preferred translation is to destroy the confience others have in the word of God in another translation.

If Paul's counsel of Romans 14 was extend to the issue of Bible translations...he would say...by the Spirit of God:

Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of Bible translations. Relible translations are profitable for reading and study, but it is wrong for a man to insist on the King James Version that causes someone else to stumble.

Here is what happens. A IFB Christian with his KJV meets an Evangelical Christian with his NASV coming. He stops him and says.

IFB: What Bible do you use?

Evan: Why it is my favorite Bible...the Open Bible NASV.

IFB: Did you know that version is corrupt and cannot be the Word of God.

What happened here? The basis of Chrsitian fellowship shifted from "faith in Christ" to "faith in a translations." Some IFB Christian have gone so far is to exclude from their fellowship with other IFB, Protestant, or Evangelical Christians if they do not have the KJV. Some have taken the Bibles from these saints hands at the entrance of the Church and placed a KJV in their hands...or turned them away if they will not bring in a KJV. Cont...

Northwest Baptist Mission:
I. THE SCRIPTURES
A. STATEMENT
We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of
God to man; the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.

B. DEFINITION
1. By "The Holy Bible," we mean that collection of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation, which as originally written, does not only contain and conve the Word of God, but IS the very Word of God.
2. By "inspiration," we mean that the books of the Bible were written by holy menof old, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, in such a definite way that their writings were supernaturally and verbally inspired and are free from error, as no other writings have ever been or ever will be inspired. (Psalm 19:7-11;
Psalm 119:89,105,130,160; Proverbs 30:5,6; Isaiah 8:20; Luke 16:31; Luke
24:25-27,44,45; John 5:39,45-47; John 12:48; John 17:17; Acts 1:16; Acts
28:25; Romans 3:4; Romans 15:4; Ephesians 6:17; II Timothy 3:16,17; I
Peter 1:23; II Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 22:19)

Yamil: And giving them a Bible with over 3,000 variations.

No we use the KJV....we do not hold it as divinely inspired, inerrant word of God for the English speaking people of the world.

http://www.jordanvalleybaptist.org/index.html

* Preaches the word of God with no apology

* Is not moved by the trends of culture

* Seeks to reconcile people to Jesus Christ

* Sings the great hymns of the faith

We believe the Bible is the verbally inspired Word and complete Revelation of God and therefore our only authority in matters of faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21

We are a group of people who believe the Bible and assemble as an independent Baptist Church. We believe God has revealed Himself to us in the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible, and that God loves all people and that He showed His love toward us by having Jesus Christ die for our sins. We embrace the fact that God wants us to get to know Him - through the study of His Word -The Holy Bible. We believe that Jesus Christ is the resurrected living Savior. We are here to assist anyone who genuinely wants to know God, and to learn the message of the Holy Bible.

St. Jeremiah,
Since Paul quoted Moses in the preceeding two verses (Deut 30:11-14) would you agree that those who have the word of faith in their hearts and in their mouths (Rom 10:8) already bear the seed of Abraham's faith?

Answer: This thought would tie into what Paul said earlier in Romans 4. We have to be careful to not draw the conclusion that because we as Gentiles have a faith like Abraham's that this makes us spiritual Israelites and in turn the Church "Spiritual Israel." The Church is a new organism that supercedes Israel as Paul said in Ephesians 2:11-3:15.

Paul stated in Romans 10 his purpose "my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved" and then goes on to show how they can be saved apart from the Law...and that the Law bore witness to this "since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law." Romans 3:30-31

St Jeremiah, is there a connection between the Jordan Valley there and Jordan Valley, Oregon? Sounds like I'm in between those two.

Answer: Our Jordan Valley is in Salt Lake City...http://www.jordanvalleybaptist.org/location.html

Faithful Remnant: You have my sympathies too, Jeremiah.

Jeremiah: Thank you. For all that I find good from being a member of IFB I do see their flaws. Legalism and spiritual pride are two faults they get into. This tends to cloud their judgment on the issue of "Divorce and Re-marriage." But I admire they do have a position on the issue...though I disagree with how they handle it when it affects one of their members.

Faithful Remnant:I noticed you are in SLC....does your church cooperate with any churches in the Boise area in Idaho?

Jeremiah: Yes...with the Best Family and Fellowship Baptist Church in Meridian Idaho. http://www.fellowshipwithhim.com/

At Berean Baptist of Idaho Falls Northwest Baptist Mission had their conference in September. http://www.northwestbaptistmissions.org/PDF%20Files/Western%20Reporter/June%202006.pdf

So yes...Jordan Vally Baptist has ties to the Boise area.

It was never ment by Lewis to be anything more than a story for his children. It is fantasy...mixing pagan and Christian imagery.

The gospel is found in the Bible...and even films like this...cannot capture the majesty and glory of this message. It can only be preached...one on one...from door to door.

I put mine out March 30th four days before Passover...April 3, 2007 (Jewish Year 5767. This is when the Passover Lambs are born and seperated from the flock (Exodus 12). The nativity gives me a chance to share about the real Passover Lamb...the Lord Jesus Christ.

High ticket items like homes, vehicle, computers, appliences, ect will lead to temporary indebtedness. A Christian is to purchase what he needs within the means God has given him. This may mean a loan or credit to cover what is not availble in ones personal account. But he is to get out of the obligation by paying it off quickly so as to shorten the obligation to the lendor and return to the better state of being debt free.

Christians who get indebted just to have a certian lifestyle...and pays only the required minimum payment and adds other debts...is not using the means wisely...and becomes a servant to the lendor. Their witness will be tarnished and they will add stressors to their lives that will take their eyes off of living for God.

Quite is preferred. People in the resturant do not need to hear you blessing the food you are about to eat...the Bible says they are unthankful and ungrateful to God for His blessings...so they are annoyed at hearing loud prayers

Being involved on Christian discussion boards you get questions about the book "Purpose Driven Life"

http://www.studylightforums.org/viewtopic.php?t=97

So to answer their questions I bought the book. I was troubled right from the introduction the liberty Pastor Warren took with the Bible...and his use of Eugene Petersons perversion called "The Message." I kept notes and did further research on Pastor Warren and looked into book reveiws...pro and con. What I did not know at the time was that my pastor at Intermountain Baptist (CBC) and the board were deciding on whether to join the 40 Days of Purpose Campagin. So I emailed Pastor Dean my concerns and let him know if the Church accepted the PDL I would have to end my membership. He agreed there were problems...but he felt he could manage them. In the end PLD came in and I left. In taking a stand against PDL has alienated me from many Christians on the Evangelical side. They get highly offended when I point out the problems of PDL as if I am not qualified to discern truth from error. But I have not been seeing good fruit come from it since it has come out.

Lurker; You have my sympathy. The treatment you are receiving is uncalled for.

Have you considered discussing the matter with your pastor so he knows you were not the initiator or cause of your divorce?

Jeremiah: Thank you Lurker for your sympathy...it helps to know someone cares.

Not to the Pastor I am with. I have with others in the past...when I need counsel about being lonely....their advised was to accept being single as from the Lord. One had no sympathy since I married without making sure the ladies were genuine Christians, that the things I did in the relationships contributed to the divorce and that I was outside of God's will for being married...so divorce was the fruit of my disobedience.

So I desire another relationship...but know I will not get any support from my Church. I am working for lady friends...not wife number 3. I do not know if this is God's will for another re-marriage. Provided I do not get back into the dysfuntional relationships I had in the past. But it has been frustrating finding a Chrsitian lady who loves the Lord, is mature in the faith and is not put off by my past failures.

I struggle with praying. I am a quite person by temperment...so "talking to God" is hard for me. So I write down what I need to pray for and just send up short one sentence prayers all day long.

But when I read or hear sermons about "making time to pray" and the preacher goes on about how much time he spends "praying" I tend to feel guilty as if I am not doing enough to pray. I just get so bored with going down the list of things I have to pray for and feel guilty if I forgot an item to pray for.

So the area of prayer is where I am weakest at...and work the hardest to fix and yet not make much in the way of progress.

I uses and NIV Chrological Bible broken down into four readings. I finish the Bible every six months or so.

Still have to find a chronology of Jesus' life I agree with yet. But since I cannot...I just read Matthew, Mark, and John without any chronology.
