Greetings R & SMy concern with the KJV issue is that the zeal some have for their preferred translation is to destroy the confience others have in the word of God in another translation. If Paul's counsel of Romans 14 was extend to the issue of Bible translations...he would say...by the Spirit of God: Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of Bible translations. Relible translations are profitable for reading and study, but it is wrong for a man to insist on the King James Version that causes someone else to stumble. Here is what happens. A IFB Christian with his KJV meets an Evangelical Christian with his NASV coming. He stops him and says. IFB: What Bible do you use? Evan: Why it is my favorite Bible...the Open Bible NASV. IFB: Did you know that version is corrupt and cannot be the Word of God. What happened here? The basis of Chrsitian fellowship shifted from "faith in Christ" to "faith in a translations." Some IFB Christian have gone so far is to exclude from their fellowship with other IFB, Protestant, or Evangelical Christians if they do not have the KJV. Some have taken the Bibles from these saints hands at the entrance of the Church and placed a KJV in their hands...or turned them away if they will not bring in a KJV. Cont... |

Northwest Baptist Mission: I. THE SCRIPTURES A. STATEMENT We believe that the Holy Bible was written by men supernaturally inspired; that it has truth without any admixture of error for its matter; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the age, the only complete and final revelation of the will of God to man; the true center of Christian union and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried.B. DEFINITION 1. By "The Holy Bible," we mean that collection of sixty-six books, from Genesis to Revelation, which as originally written, does not only contain and conve the Word of God, but IS the very Word of God. 2. By "inspiration," we mean that the books of the Bible were written by holy menof old, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit, in such a definite way that their writings were supernaturally and verbally inspired and are free from error, as no other writings have ever been or ever will be inspired. (Psalm 19:7-11; Psalm 119:89,105,130,160; Proverbs 30:5,6; Isaiah 8:20; Luke 16:31; Luke 24:25-27,44,45; John 5:39,45-47; John 12:48; John 17:17; Acts 1:16; Acts 28:25; Romans 3:4; Romans 15:4; Ephesians 6:17; II Timothy 3:16,17; I Peter 1:23; II Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 22:19) |

Yamil: And giving them a Bible with over 3,000 variations. No we use the KJV....we do not hold it as divinely inspired, inerrant word of God for the English speaking people of the world. http://www.jordanvalleybaptist.org/index.html * Preaches the word of God with no apology * Is not moved by the trends of culture * Seeks to reconcile people to Jesus Christ * Sings the great hymns of the faith We believe the Bible is the verbally inspired Word and complete Revelation of God and therefore our only authority in matters of faith and practice. 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21 We are a group of people who believe the Bible and assemble as an independent Baptist Church. We believe God has revealed Himself to us in the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible, and that God loves all people and that He showed His love toward us by having Jesus Christ die for our sins. We embrace the fact that God wants us to get to know Him - through the study of His Word -The Holy Bible. We believe that Jesus Christ is the resurrected living Savior. We are here to assist anyone who genuinely wants to know God, and to learn the message of the Holy Bible. |

Faithful Remnant: You have my sympathies too, Jeremiah. Jeremiah: Thank you. For all that I find good from being a member of IFB I do see their flaws. Legalism and spiritual pride are two faults they get into. This tends to cloud their judgment on the issue of "Divorce and Re-marriage." But I admire they do have a position on the issue...though I disagree with how they handle it when it affects one of their members. Faithful Remnant:I noticed you are in SLC....does your church cooperate with any churches in the Boise area in Idaho? Jeremiah: Yes...with the Best Family and Fellowship Baptist Church in Meridian Idaho. http://www.fellowshipwithhim.com/ At Berean Baptist of Idaho Falls Northwest Baptist Mission had their conference in September. http://www.northwestbaptistmissions.org/PDF%20Files/Western%20Reporter/June%202006.pdf So yes...Jordan Vally Baptist has ties to the Boise area. |
