I was married twice and divorced twice. Long story....but I blame myself for what went wrong.
My last divorce was over 15 years ago. Cannot find a Christian lady to date in Utah. I cannot shake the stigma divorce has for me that hinders dating. I'm like a used car of another era that has too many miles that nobody is interested in.
Perhaps you should try moving out of the state of Utah. Then again, according to the some in that state, the justification for having more than one wife is to bring the ratio of men to women into balance. Therefore, there should be way more women in Utah looking for husbands than men looking for wives, right?

Yes, I think we need to take the whole Bible and evaluate your doctrines that way, rather then pick one verse to suit yourself... Paul said it was easier to be single, and better, but it was not a commandment from the Lord. There is that verse as well:

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry...

Thats preety clear.

Wayne,
No, but who knows. I was just stating the way things have been

While on the subject, LadyinChrist, the passages in the NT about eunuchs are rather interesting. I'd imagine there are many interpretations of such. I think the Roman Catholic Church uses it to support the obligatory celibacy(which made headlines here not long ago), but that doesn't rhyme well with the Apostle Paul's warning of forbidding marriage.

Married almost 40 years. To God be the glory. May He continue to keep us humble and save us from pride.

We are grateful for the Old Testament scriptures that warn of pride etc and show the terrible consequences that befell Israel

Dear St Jeremiah,

I know of some Christians who are divorced and not of their own doing. In both cases the men where decieved into believing their wives were Christians. This resulted in heart ache and in one case children were involved. I tell you this because I know the pain divorce can bring but I would also like to say that remarriage after divorce weither you were in the write or wrong is not biblical. Also in regards to the dating issue it is said in the Bible that to have lustful thoughts for another person is still considered adultery (10 commandments) and so I believe that tells us when we are divorced that it is wrong to date or even think of others in that way, hard as this may be. I am not meaning to judge or cause offence and I am only responding as I felt your comment was heartfelt.
