Yamil Luciano:

No, you left out the first part of the verse. I see ML called you on it. Generally people only quote parts of verses to emphasize those particular parts (sometimes ignoring the rest entirely). But point noted that your reply was in the negative.

Yamil Luciano said:

"I believe the Bible not YOU. So you can stop trying to take its place."

Great.

I wasn't trying to take the Bible's place. Concerning John 10:26, I simply quoted the verse and confessed that I used to believe the truth was vice-versa.

Dessie from West Virginia: I for one am disappointed in Bob Jones University. Being a Calvinist, of course I have strong theological disagreements with the institution's doctrinal stands in some areas, and cannot praise them as you do because of my beliefs. However, my disappoint does not concern that issue at all: my concern is that this might possibly subject BJU to the authority of the state in undesirable ways which would influence what/how doctrine is taught or not taught. In other words, meeting accreditation standards and Biblical standards may not be possible simultaneously now or especially in the future. I'm not entirely against attending an accredited institution, please understand, just worried.

Discerned Believer (if you are still around) and Freewiller:

I owe both of you an apology as I have been rude and ungracious to the both of you. I respectfully disagree with both of you theologically, but I could have done so in a much more gracious way. I will do my best to accurately interact with your beliefs when I do choose to respond.

ml: I agree 100% (forgot about the verse you referenced too; good verse!)

ml: Spurgeon argued that the total number of elect would be greater than the number of non-elect, and I think he based his reasoning on the idea that God should have the preeminence in dominion and glory. I think also he believed that every infant that dies (admittedly an inestimable number) is elect and goes to heaven (thereby helping to explain the superior number of elect versus non-elect).

I respectfully disagree with Spurgeon here, because I note that as for living believers in OT times, God never had more than a remnant, that I can tell, and that was according to His plan. I also consider the story of Noah and his family, being eight saved alone in the Flood. Also, I have difficulty being assured that every single infant that dies goes to heaven, because of the idea of original sin. If babies do not die because of sin, then why do they die? How can I be assured that every infant that dies is elect? I cannot be, though I reason that some probably are.

I would rather believe what Spurgeon believed about this, but I just can't see it as of yet.

Yamil, in order to continue stressing the verb "COMES" in the way you do, you will have to continue overlooking the "gives" of the Father, and find a way for people to come to Christ who have not ever been given by the Father.

John 10:26
"But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep."

Not vice-versa, as I used to think.

I do not know whether Dr. Hovind is right or not. But I find the way he and his wife have been treated to be contemptible, and disconcerting. If I didn't know any better (and I don't) I would say someone somewhere wanted to bring "Dr. Dino" down.

Perhaps Nation of Islam, too, though it is inherently silly.

Mike from New York: wow. I didn't know such a Muslim was possible. Only here in America, I guess.

I also thought funny the assertion by some Muslim I read on the internet somewhere back when that Christianity is too divisive with all its denominations and such, and people ought to turn to the truth found in the unity of Islam. Right.

And, I was poking fun at the sometimes willful-ignorance of liberals concerning Scripture.

I'm sorry Jim Lincoln and coora. I was trying to be both facetious and humorous at the same time, and I failed. Of course, I agree with the both of you, and more importantly, with Scripture itself.

What I was poking fun at, is all the liberals who assert that Islam is inherently a peaceful religion toward the infidel. It is not.

John from San Jose, CA:

Oh! I've never had problems accessing the wnd.com site myself best I can remember, so the thought it could be down never even crossed my mind. Of course, the fact that I've never had problems getting there could either tell you that my Internet neighborhood almost never has connectivity problems, or that I haven't visited the site enough to encounter that problem. But I'm not saying which.

No, no, coora. I'm sure that verse says he was a peaceful and cooperative man, just like his descendants today. Go back and read it again.
