Sermon:
Elders That Rule Well - pt 1
Pastor Jeff Pollard

“ YES! ”
Quote from this sermon: "Those who are born of God's Spirit want to be fed the Word of God. They want the Word of God to come to them with power, they want it to come with clarity -- and again, not the man's personal power, the power of God's Spirit -- and they want to be changed, they want to be transformed."

“ Fantastic Series! ”
Jeff Pollard does a fantastic job teaching the doctrines of Grace. He is the first preacher I have heard teach on this subject, and it is well worth the time to listen to the whole series.

Since the 16th century Reformation the predominant Bible used in the Protestant church has been the KJV.

I use the KJV because many study materials (such as Strong's Concordance) are tied to this version. The phrasing is also elegant and memorable. But I also read the NIV. And recently completed the Tyndale.

How do I see the list of books?
I found the answer to my own question. Next to "Search by keyword" is a dropdown list for "Narrow results by subset filter". In the dropdown list choose "Series". This causes another dropdown list to appear containing all of the series (aka books) for that speaker (aka author).

Where is "Other"? "Conviction of the truth of things not seen" is real close for me.

Consider Abraham, the father of our faith. "And he [Abraham] believed in the LORD; and he [the LORD] counted it to him for righteousness." (Genesis 15:6) The context of this verse is, the LORD God spoke a promise to Abraham, and then Abraham believed the Words of God. Faith is believing what God says.

And faith is the gift of God.

I own all 4. Calvin's Institutes is difficult because of the length.

For "other", my favorites are Arthur W. Pink's "The Sovereignty of God", and "The Attributes of God" (aka "Gleanings in the Godhead").

I voted "Other" because the biggest hurdle is the old sinful nature, the carnal mind. We have two natures at war within us:

"For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members." (Romans 7:22,23)

Of the things on the list in the poll, I have to agree with the majority about not reading the Bible. "...the words that I speak unto you, [they] are spirit, and [they] are life." (John 6:63) "Give us day by day our daily bread." (Luke 11:3) We should be feeding on the Word every day. I cannot explain how it works, but I know from personal experience it does work.

I have 3 iPod Nanos. I use them to listen to sermons and audio books downloaded from this site and other sites.

I chose the iPod since my car stereo has an iPod cord. This allows me to listen to and control the iPod from the car stereo.

Thank for providing this repository of audio sermons and books!

I have a question/suggestion. When I look at "Sermons by Speaker" I get to see all speakers and the number of tracks. For example, "Calvin, John - 138". When I click that link I cannot figure out how to view the list of works/books. I only see the list of individual files. How do I see the list of books?
