Same problem over here in Britain.
Today we have three main parties.
Liberal Conbservatives.
Liberal Labour/socialists.
(Ultra) Liberal Democrats.

Todays "Democracy" appears to be
Political Anarchy
Social Anarchy
Moral Anarchy.

Todays religion is.
Religious Anarchy.
Or to put it another way
Spiritually Bankrupt.

Authority in our societies institutions become more and more Liberal, hence no government, - bureaucracy instead, no justice, - crime is not punished because the law is feeble, - education is dumbing down, exams/tests become facile.

And since all authority comes from God, then what is missing in western society is God!!

What is killing the modern protestant church is not the antichrist in Rome, - but one that is closer to home.

Why?............

to pick and chooose verses they can use to support their own theology......

But Michael you've rejected the statement of Scripture which prescibes God's sovereignty over election, surely then the alternative you bring is "salvation by Michael"???
Do you believe that to work?

I thought you had told us you'd LEFT the RCC, - this would indicate you have one foot still in their dogma.

God said....
Jo 6.37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
AND
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
AND
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

You can't get more sovereign than that Michael.

=BEFORE
Eph 2.12 That at that time ye were WITHOUT Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and STRANGERS from the covenants of promise, having NO HOPE, and WITHOUT God in the world:

=AFTER
"O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this DEATH?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord...."(Ro 7)

Michael;
You really should continue with Romans 10 into Romans 11 to get the complete picture.

Thus continuing
Elijah pleads...
3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

God responds....
4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? **I HAVE RESERVED** to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.
Thus Paul states.....
5 Even so then at this **PRESENT TIME ALSO** there is a remnant according to **THE ELECTION OF GRACE**

so....
7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; BUT THE ELECTION HATH OBTAINED IT, and the rest were BLINDED.
8 (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear) unto this day.

Michael; this is the continuation of chapter 10, Paul is still teaching, - **NOTE how he teaches the "Sovereignty" of God over election unto Salvation.

May God help you into all Truth!

If we look closely at the doctrine of todays free will/arminian hypothesis, we will observe their repudiation of both Imputed Righteousness and Total Depravity. As John Owen points out in his book on the Justification of Faith, they seem to go hand in hand.

"And it is no less true also, on the other hand, as unbelief works in men a disesteem of the person and
righteousness of Christ, they are cast inevitably to seek for countenance unto their own consciences in the extenuation of sin."(Owen)

The dangerous power of iniquity at work in the vanity of the sinner, thus extenuates sin within. OR Does sin extenuate sin?

"MacNaughton is a not a judge -- far from it. Like the other two panellists, she is a radical activist, a social engineer of the first order, which is precisely why she was appointed to the Tribunal."

Canada appears to have a problem not only with "human rights" but also the definition of justice and the definition of definition!!!

Mind you, so does the west in general.

"Bin Laden's prescription for change, meanwhile, has led to nothing but death and destruction. Radicals have turned their anger and their bombs against other Muslims whom they deem apostates or simply inconsequential. As a result, they've found themselves isolated. In Iraq, Al Qaeda's forces are on the ropes and largely indistinguishable from gangsters. In Pakistan, polls show public support for suicide bombings has dropped....."

I wonder if Bin Laden will read this and become disenchanted and give up?

I love the line "support for suicide bombing has dropped." Even a comedian couldn't think that one up.

Surely John Calvin's Theology need not be "Reformed"; unless you are speaking of Calvin's Rabid Racism/Anti-Semitism/Anti-Christian-NonConformity & Anti-Christian/Anti-Jewish Augustinianism
Oh I see you don't know the difference between Roman Catholic doctrine and the True Biblical doctrines of the Protestant faith.

Are you still then a "PreReformation" Roman Catholic?

But in REALITY They are Theological "Kissing Cousins" !
It has been the Historic INFLUENCE of Tertullian-Montanist & Biblical-Literalist Theology (ala Wycliffian Lollardism); that has been a GOD-Given HOLY-SPIRITual RESTRAINT to "Reformed" & Augustinian-........

It always amazes me how these, - ""not allowed to quote the denomination"" - rewrite history in the belief that it supports their recently invented denomination.
Ecclesiastical history actually isn't that complicated, until you introduce the hypothesis and conjecture of the rewriters.

It is good to know that the Holy Spirit guides the Elect into all truth.

2Tim 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto FABLES.

Oh Well!!

Would that mean then Minnow that Dr Beeke and Murray then are 'tares' and lost?
Didn't A W Pink believe in a future antichrist? BTW I believe the papacy is the Antichrist.
"Scotland the Brave" - Boy o boy is that phrase from a far far distant past.

Ref messrs Beeke/Murray....
Please note that generalisations do not include specifics.

I believe in a future Antichrist too but note the difference, - This one I present with a capital letter.

Does anyone know in Schotland who the Antichrist is ? According to Dr. Beeke the reformers TO THE MAN said the pope of Rome was THE antichrist. However Dr. Beeke and Dr. David Murray (former minister Free Church of Scotland Continuing) believe in a future antichrist. No wonder that God in His Providence has been destroying al this unfaithfulness and backsliding, and still with so much apostacy the so called reformed and presbyterian do not repent or start cleaning their own house before going out laying burdens on others they do not carry themselves !
Revelation 18v4 KJV
I take it you mean "Scotland"

The "Papacy" - not the pope is the antichrist. But of course this indicates that the current incumbent is serving in the role.

As for the, quote, "reformed and presbyterian" - As Paul states
Romans 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. **For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:**

Even in the Reformed Church we must expect tares among the wheat. How else might Satan obstruct the True Church?

Here is a simple tithing rule.....

21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Anyone for perfection???

And a couple of God's Proverbs....

27 Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, WHEN IT IS IN the power of thine hand to do it.
28 Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

A few days ago I asked someone, anyone who knows to list the basic differences between the first three answers.
How does someone who says he is a biblical fundamentalist differ from a calvinist and from an arminian?
1019 people have made the distinction.
From what I've experienced on the board Fundamentalists are Arminians, - BUT will not admit to it. However they usually tend towards a very anti-Calvinist opinion as well as towards a free will doctrinal position.

Good verses, but what do they have to do with sovereignty?
Hi Mike;
You can't see sovereignty, omnipotence or majesty here??? He is the Potter and we just His clay.

"Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?"

Psalm 29:4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

Psalm 93:1 The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved.

Jude 1:25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Amen and Amen!
