I do not understand what you are saying.

You seem to be saying that when one does repent and believe they will no longer sin, or sin without asking forgiveness (go to confession). Do you believe that if you stole a pen (even accidently) from someone and were killed before asking forgiveness, that you would go to hell? Theft is listed in 1Cor6:9-10.

Where is your assurance of salvation?

The verses you quoted do not say Paul repented, but that he recognised that God was calling him to change what he was doing. When did Paul repent, say he was sorry, for what he had been doing?

Abigail,
When did Saul/Paul repent? Before or after he was called and believed?
Please refer to scripture.

Abigail,
You said, "The discussion is not getting saved all over again--it is whether a person is saved in the first place. No one is saved if they have not repented and if they are still living in their old sinful habits"
Do you you believe that once you are saved you are perfect?
We all have sinful ways and habits that God will slowly as we are sanctified, reveal. We do not lose our salvation during this process. However scripture does say that those who are called will be sanctified and glorified in time.
It is a great comfort to know that through this process nothing can remove us, whom He knows, from His family.

In thinking about salvation, I looked at the conversion of Saul/Paul. I cannot see how he chose salvation or even repented before he was saved. These seem to have come later in his life.
Also look at the fishermen Simon, Andrew, James and John. Jesus called and they, like any part of His creation, left what they were doing and followed. I think we are the same - God calls and we follow and seek forgiveness, repent.

Using the same logic we could call God baal, or budda or the earth mother or any other name we like the sound of. I believe God had something to say on this issue in His book, the Bible. (or is that the koran or something else?)
I just turned to Spurgeon's Morning and the verse is Ps 29:2 "Give unto the Lord the glory due his name."

Yes we worship with other Christians on a Sunday, but also on a Tuesday and Wednesday and whenever we meet other sisters or brothers in the Lord - sometimes every day of the week.
Yes we give an amount of what we have to the work of God each week and when we see a need we give more. At present we have a negative income, but God has always provided for our needs.

Under the old covenant there were 12 tribes in Israel and one, the Levites, or priests, were God's; there was one tenth of everything to be given to the priests; and one day in seven was to be kept holy. In contrast under the new covenant all His people are holy (Priests), all we own is His, and all the days of the week are His - we are to worship and pray every day. It is a better covenant. We are His by redemption as well as by adoption.

I find it interesting that the question is "What form of music should be used in praise?" and all that has been discussed is what words we should use. Sure the forum leads us that way but I'm interested to know how the music is selected or as it seems in most cases modified.
Some have said we shouldn't use instruments and others limit those we can use. For some the beat is important and for others it seems there shouldn't be a noticable beat.
The psalms are not the only songs recorded in Scripture.

What do you mean when you say "Musical Instruments were done away with at the ending of Temple worship, as there use was no longer needed."
Are we not commanded in the psalms to use harps, trumpets and stringed instruments? Or are we just to sing about using them?

So it's ok to compose new music (so long as it meets your list of what is reverent) and to even change the words to make them fit your new music but it is not ok to sing of what God has done in and through me as a Christian. We are not to sing of the mighty things God has done in NT times and since. We are surely told to sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. There are songs recorded is Scripture that are not in the psalms. Are they ok?

But where does the music come from? Is it man's composition?

How about getting back to the topic in Christian love and humility.
Why must all christians follow western ideas on dress. In asia and the middle east and the pacific island countries it is correct for men to wear skirts and/or robes while in many the women dress in pants with long blouses. Christianity is not confined to culture. In these verses, I believe, we are being told not to cross dress and live a lie.

Let's sing the words recorded in scripture by all means, but what music/ tune must you use? They are not recorded anywhere that I know of. Many of our hymns are straight from scripture.
Singing has been shown as the best way to memorise the words. In the days before writing was used by all scripture was memorised and the works of God were sung as songs so that we would remember them.

Donnie,
"God's word is more than sufficient in every way, especially when it comes to music. We use the Psalter in our church. These rhyming Psalms have been put to many of the hymn tunes. I feel that many who don't know these Psalters/Psalms don't know what they're missing. Melodically they are georgous."
Are you saying you are singing sripture that has been altered to rhyming words and adding your own idea as to the music eg hymn tunes?
Surely this is no different to taking an idea from scripture and writing words that flow and music for it.
How is singing scripture in song not Ok by this rule? All that is added is the music just as with the psalms.

Those who beleve we should only sing the psalms: What do you do with other songs recorded in scripture? Are we allowed to sing them?
Will we sing the new song recorded in the book of the Revelation with other believers?
If we only sing the psalms what tune are we to use? Many were accompanied by trumpets, tambourines, harps and drums and to my knowledge none of the original scores are recorded.
A new song is written in our hearts as believers.

I agree Abergail. Everything we have and are belongs to God, so if a need becomes evident I feel that if we have the funds we should be donating

Dress codes pertain very much to the society in which you live. In many Asian coutries it is correct for men to wear skirts and women a type of pant suit. Does this make them wrong. Slacks are a part of women's clothing in western countries today and should be acknowledged as such.
