BYS, I have read the articles from your harlot church. The very first one, article 1030, is unscriptural, and contradictory. '...still imperfectly purified, are indeed assured of their eternal salvation, but after death they undergo purification...' How can you be 'partly pure', and yet be on your way to heaven? After death, you either go to be with the Lord or you are cast into outer darkness, there is no holding tank. "I desire to depart and be with Christ" Phil. 1:23
Art. 1030 implies that Christ didn't quite do the job, nor did the Holy Spirit, or the word of God-"Sanctify them by truth, your word is truth" John 17:17 "Wherefore He is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them" Hebrews 7:25

BYS- I could care less about your man-made doctrines; where would I find the word Purgatory defined in God's word? His holy word is the final authority, even over RCC propaganda. What passage of scripture gives a clear teaching and explanation on Purgatory? What verse actually says Purgatory? Do you know the bible says we are not to add to or take away from His word? {Deut. 4:2, Prov. 30:6} By trying to add purgatory into scripture, even though it isn't there, the RCC is in serious danger and has committed a terrible sin against our Sovereign God.
Let me know if you find purgatory clearly taught in God's word.

Purgatory was never taught by the early church fathers, and it is not taught in God's word. It is, as catechism 1031 says, a 'tradition'. In Luke 16, the rich man died and went to hell. He prayed to Father Abraham, but Abraham told him his fate was sealed, it could NOT be changed.
There are several rewards of crown that can be earned for the work of the Christian life; a Christian can loose his reward but still be saved,so as by fire {like jumping through a fiery hoop and scorching your coattails as you barely make it through}. This is not a purifying purgatory to see whether you make it, no where in scripture is purgatory found, or taught by God. If, as RCC believes, the Spirit of God dwells within their followers, and they go to hell, then the Holy Spirit would have to go along as well, because God promised, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" =Hebrews 13:5b

Walt, thank you for your post. I guess they overlook the command to keep the marriage bed pure as well. It's sad when men define in their own terms what adultery, fornication, and sexual immorality mean. You can take the bible and make it say anything you want, which is dangerous {Deut. 4:2}, obviously these folks are doing just that! May God bless you and keep you.

cnystrom- I do not decide what is sin, God does. In Genesis 2:24, GOD says,"Therefore, a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh". Notice the singular use of 'man', 'wife', and 'one flesh'. It doesn't say, 'men', 'wives', or 'many flesh'.
O.P., Walt,- God bless you for your excellent posts which contain His truth.

Where in the bible does it condone polygamy? There are many instances of people falling into sin in the bible {Moses striking the rock instead of speaking to it, Numbers 20:7-11}, that does not condone it. These instances are included in scripture for us to learn from, so as not to follow the pattern.

GG. - Our battle is spiritual, not flesh against flesh, or denomination. The spirit that feeds RCC teaching is not that of God, for theirs is a salvation of works. They have no assurance of salvation, idolatry is promoted, and rituals are performed; all of which contradict God's word. Wrong teaching will always be corrected by those you label as fundi's. In actuality, we are blood bought, born of the Spirit children of God defending His truth. The baptism that is required is that of the Holy Spirit {Acts 19:2}, after the heart has been broken over sin, bankrupt, poor in spirit. If you aren't changing from the inside out, all the head knowledge in the world will not save you. Your heart remains calloused. "My son, give me your HEART, and let your eyes observe my ways"-Proverbs 23:26

John Y.- water baptism is not the saving factor in salvation. You must repent, be born again, and believe. God baptizes with the Holy Spirit, then you bear fruit. A changed heart and mind go hand in hand in the new birth. It is the baptism of the Holy Spirit that is needed, which comes with repenting of sin,and being born again. I have read some of your previous posts, and I am puzzled as to why you would sit under the false teaching of the RCC, yet claim to be saved. How do you expect to be spiritually 'fed' by a priest that spews out man-made propaganda? If you want to grow in Christ, you cannot defend teaching that contradicts His. This isn't about Prots vs. RCC, this is about loving the Lord our God with All our heart, mind, soul, and strength, and following and serving Him. You seem to be stuck in the 'us vs them' mode that RCC folk throw out repeatedly. We must defend Christ, and His word, not a church. I pray Christ will make this clear to you.

This story certainly is not making front page news in any American newspaper or news show, our Government keeps giving the impression 'all is well', however, the real story contradicts such nonsense. We should not be in a panic mode, but in a prayer mode, our country is going to @#*! in a handbasket, we are running on pride and arrogance, but it won't last much longer.

We certainly do not have to patronize this fast food chain, this is a growing trend of big corporations that tolerate and support homosexuality. However, let's not forget this, "No one, after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light"-Luke 8:16
We cannot hibernate in our homes, we must proclaim the truth to a very dark world. We have work to do, and with wickedness increasing everywhere, it's apparent time is short. Let's not take on a 'holier than thou' attitude; this is a call to equip ourselves with our most effective weapon, the sword of the Spirit, the word of God. View this as an opportunity to proclaim God's truth, as the Spirit leads, and not as a reason to barricade ourselves in our homes. If we hold to that view, very soon we will not be able to leave for any reason. Poke some holes in the darkness, "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. But I will show you whom you should fear, fear Him, who, after killing the body, has power to throw you into hell"-Luke 12:4

I would say Mr. Bush is a hypocrite, he professed Christ, but there is no fruit. Live and learn. That's why we should not make the same mistake again with Obama, or Clinton,or McCain, none of these candidates are born again believers...this election requires much prayer; not compromise, but much prayer. We cannot solve the world's problems, and to continue to debate racism is not productive. Let's live according to God's word, and not quarrel over issues that have always been with us and always will be, until Christ returns. We all know true Christians are hated, but we understand the nature of that hate. This world in its present form is passing away, we need to focus on Christ, living holy lives, proclaiming God's truth, and not being afraid to stand firm in it.

Mike, I think Christians are losing their focus here, we all know Obama is not a Christian. We need to give it a rest, pray for this nation, and proclaim the gospel. God is in control; America needs to hear the gospel more than hearing all about these presidential candidates. The Lord will take care of the election. You will not sway anyone's vote by attacking the candidate, however, if you give them the gospel, God will sway their hearts and their votes...

DSY- good point, this pastor of Obama's is being used by the media to try and sway the people not to vote for him. If anyone would look at the liberal stance Obama has on same-sex marriage, and abortion, that should deter them from voting for him. It has nothing to do with his skin color, or his pastor's idiotic remarks. You are right, none of the candidates are born again believers, they all play the 'religion' card to try and sway the conservative vote. Our sovereign God is in control and will fulfill His purpose for this nation...unless America repents, I don't see good things ahead for this giant superpower. This should be of bigger concern to those of us who belong to Christ; praying for this nation, proclaiming His truth in a season when men will not put up with sound doctrine, and living lives worthy of the calling we have received.

John y.- you said a prayer, but did you confess and repent of your sins? {Read Luke 13}Are you born again? Has there and is there a continuing inward change in your life? Remember the words of Christ, 'they honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me'. The heart has to be involved in order for a true salvation to take place, it isn't any 'name it, claim it' salvation. Your defense of the RCC would lead one to question your loyalty to Christ. You will never grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ by sitting under false teaching.

I believe the greater tragedy is the fact he is using a pulpit for his soapbox. The Lord's day is set aside to worship Him, exclusively, not to air our dirty laundry {assuming this sermon was delivered on the Lord's day}. How shameful it is to hurl accusations and then throw in, 'that's in the bible' just to give it some sort of legitimacy. This man needs our prayers, he is lost in sin; hatred, malice, rage, anger...may God humble him, be merciful and save him.
