No, the Pope is not the one and only Anti-Christ because the one and only Anti-Christ has not come on the scene as of yet.

Yes.

Today we might look around and wonder if the neo-religion of Liberalism is the anti-christ or at least his theology. But the revealing of the anti-christ is not something for these last few days, but the error and heresy which proves itself by surviving down the ages. Whereas Liberalism is too obvious a fallacy which ditches the complete Bible for the worship of man's culture and abominations. Perhaps a decoy?

The papal antichrist, not just one person but several over the centuries, has sought to thwart the Word of God and the Work of God for many years. It has done this in insidious and subtle ways typical of Satan and darkness. Thus gaining acceptance.

The Roman Catholic dogma has set up a separate religion, indeed a separate scripture by way of error and idolatry. The gullible have been bewitched and fooled by this false teacher drawing them into idolatry, "saints" worship, relics and all kinds of graven images. Thus the followers take the path away from God and His Son in the only alternative - worldly idols, things they can touch and see with human eyes.

Salvation by works is their natural religious focus, whereby human effort with worldly implements invented by a worldly church, beguile them into an earthly sense of religious security.

I see that Rand Winburn had some comments here on SermonAudio, 4 years ago. I appreciated his transcript and comments of the Larry King/Olsteen interview. It made a concise example of Mr. Olsteen's philosophy (I really don't want to use the word theology and Olsteen together). I would go to his webpage and look at that transcript which can be found at (July 2009):

]]Iconbusters. I found it to be more revealing than even the open letter to Olsteen's Church.

The Final~Antichrist

Those with ears to hear.......

This “man of sin” declares himself above “all” that is called or worshiped as God. He shall soon set up his abominable (New World Order) Empire(utopian dream); demanding to be worshiped, his final earthly kingdom is exactly where God Almighty has placed His Own Name for eternity (Jerusalem)! During this time the world pleading for mercy shall be under the greatest duress, mass persecution, and genocide since creation began. They shall exalt the Vatican’s newly appointed usurper of God; their self proclaimed global dictator will then be declared a “direct descendant” from the “Holy Bloodline” of Jesus Christ from the House Of David.
They will profess this to be God’s will. This is exactly what is told us in Matthew 24:15-22; When ye therefore shall “SEE” the abomination of desolation; a “final sign” to alert God’s people of Christ’s soon imminent return. Daniel 11:45; And he (pope) shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas (Dead//Mediterranean) in the glorious Holy Mountain (Jerusalem) yet he (pope) shall come to his end, and none shall help him. Search deep in my site,page2,3,4 etc

I will preface this statement by saying that I have not read all of the comments posted here.

It seems to me, that we are missing the bigger picture here. This is not necessarily about one man being 'the' anti-christ, but rather many being anti-christ.

It is kind of simple really... "anti" is and can be construed as being "opposite".

For example, there are 'many' who claim to have the 'annointing'. We know that "Christ" means 'annointed one'. Now, it stands to reason that anyone who claims to have the annointing yet bears no fruit, could concievably be an "anti-christ".

If we look at all the 'trees' that profess Christ and claim to have "the annointing" that bear no fruit, we could arguably say that there are indeed MANY FALSE CHRISTS.

Don't just see the Pope as 'the anti-christ' but rather the whole realm of Democracy as "anti-christ". I mean, we take for granted that democracy means freedom... but in reality, democracy allows us to worship God the way we want as opposed to the God has commanded us.

Anything that goes against the Law of God is 'Anti-Christ'. Anyone who does not love his neighbor as himself is 'anti-christ'. Anyone who does not place the Word of God above all else in life...is ANTI-CHRIST.

I hope this puts things into perspective.

Duane

In Matthew Jesus tells us that "MANY will come in MY NAME saying I AM CHRIST and deceive many."

This is a very telling statement as it runs contrary to usual grammatical rules of speech.

If Jesus says "Many will come saying .." should He not also be following up with "WE are Christ."
But no he uses "I am Christ"
Also the inverse of this is that One will come in my name saying I am Christ."
These would be the correct grammatical usages.
The very purpose though of saying what He is saying is to clearly show us that the Many are connected to each other as much as their statements are connected.
That a complete line and dynasty of Antichrists will all come one after each other claiming the same blasphemy.

This of course is no other than the Popes of Rome. And will culminate in the final Pope as well.

Thus as Jago previously said quoting 1 John there are many antichrists. They were already in the church influencing and redirecting the direction of the church towards what would eventually become the Roman Catholic Church.

According to John there are many antichrists
See 1John 2:18 "ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know it is the last time."

John y.- you said a prayer, but did you confess and repent of your sins? {Read Luke 13}Are you born again? Has there and is there a continuing inward change in your life? Remember the words of Christ, 'they honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me'. The heart has to be involved in order for a true salvation to take place, it isn't any 'name it, claim it' salvation. Your defense of the RCC would lead one to question your loyalty to Christ. You will never grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ by sitting under false teaching.

I never said that Baptists nor Fundamental Protestants were without error; nor did I ever say that the doctrines of these could not be influenced by RCC doctrine. The Bible alone is the Word of God. Look carefully, Romans 10:9-10 does not say that one must pray in order to "become saved". The confession of the gospel (which is what this is), is what is done by those who "are saved". This is the present positive tense not a future conditional tense.

We know this must be the sense because in v. 10 the word explains "for with the heart man 'BELIEVETH' unto righteousness". What follows is the mouth confessing what the heart has already believed or as a consequence of what is believed. It does not say, for with the "mouth man prayeth unto righteousness", and with the heart belief is made unto salvation.

Perhaps this is why you do not believe the truth that the Pope is the Anti-christ, the "son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." 2 Thess. 2:4
It doesn't get much clearer than that!

ck: "Your position is that the reformers testimony and lives are to such perfection they couldn't have been wrong on prophecy!"

WRONG. My contention is that when historic events are proven to be the fulfillment of Scripture, the elect will know it. Time is the surest interpreter of prophecy. Time elapsed. The elect discerned the prophecies.

In trying to prove a future Antichrist, which cannot be done, you deny all recorded history, as well as the testimony of millions of saints who preceded you, who, with one voice for 7 consecutive centuries all proclaimed the Pope of Rome to be the Antichrist; his false church, Mystery Babylon.

Woe unto you...
