“ Sobering.... ” Seems made for today, especially as the judgments upon our nations have only been increasing, and we have still not repented. What will it take to turn us from our sin and unto Christ?
“ Great Sermon! ” Yes, it is our hearts which the Lord seeks, not merely outward ritual, no matter how correct our outward forms of religion may be. The heart is the all important thing.
“ Great Sermon! ” "Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the LORD our God." (Jeremiah 3:22) We live in a day when many covenant children have not trusted Christ and have walked away from Him. How gracious is our Lord to not only command their return, but also to promise that He will give spiritual healing to them, as well! Oh, return to the Lord, all who have departed!
“ Great Sermon! ” Those who think that man can save himself lack understanding of man's true condition. The salvation of man can only be achieved by the work of God.
“ Great Sermon! ” "...stir up thy strength, and come and save us. Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved." (Psalm 80:2-3)
“ Great Sermon! ” If you have grown comfortable in the practice of sin and your conscience no longer troubles you, it is not a sign of progress, but rather a sign of hardening, and should cause you to fear. Turn to the Lord in true faith and repentance while you still may: "Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon." (Isaiah 55:6-7)
“ Great Sermon! ” Apostate covenant breakers, take heed: "Thine own wickedness shall correct thee, and thy backslidings shall reprove thee: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, and that my fear is not in thee, saith the Lord GOD of hosts." ~Jeremiah 2:19
“ Great Sermon! ” We too easily forget that we deserve only death and hell, and we murmur against the Lord when we should be praising Him for His overbounding love.
“ Great Sermon! ” The need for faithful men to preach God’s word is great. Pray that many would be raised up in our own day and that the tide of declension and apostasy would be reversed.
“ Great Sermon! ” Thank you for this sermon. Given how frequently the Bible speaks of the influx and ascendancy of foreigners as a judgment upon a disobedient, unbelieving people, we have been astonished at how few ministers are willing to preach the truth about what is happening in the nations of Christendom. This is a much needed sermon for today's church.
“ Great Sermon! ” The times have worsened even since this sermon was preached, but God’s truth must still be upheld as we pray for better days, which will come according to God’s promises.
“ Great Sermon! ” Thank you for this sermon. It is astonishing that something so clearly affirmed in Scripture is denied by so many Christians. Perhaps it is not only that the depravity of man is a mere abstraction to many, but also that the sovereignty of God is also an abstraction in their minds. It takes a firm belief in God's sovereignty to look at the nature and intent of anti-christian conspiracy without being terrified. But God is indeed sovereign and will bring the conspiracies of evil men to nothing.
