As the scriptures show forth the sufferings of our Lord, many aspects of Christ's character are revealed to us. In the transitioning from the upper room to the garden of Gethsemane Jesus takes the time to sing from the Hillel portion of the Psalms (Psalms 113 – 118). This is a conclusion to both the Passover and the newly instituted Lord's Supper. As Christ sang these Psalms He would have reflected on His own work and the Father's wisdom preparing for the trials ahead and taking comfort in the coming victory. As they traveled from the upper room the Jesus confronted the disciples – and Peter in particular – regarding their impending sin of betrayal and falling away. However, He offered a promise of restoration for the brethren. Even now Jesus continues the ministry of confrontation and restoration for His people.
