Despite the fact that there will be a Day of Judgment in which all must come face to face with God, many are sitting in judgment on His law. They think they can choose to obey or disobey it as they please. But since the perfect God has given this law to us we need to regard it perfect. We also need to understand that the Lord gave it to us for our good although it may in some places seem onerous to us. One of the ways it is for our good is to show us our need and the perfection of the One who fulfills that need. God gave the law to Moses after mankind had sinned causing sin to spread to everyone descended from our first parents. That lets us know that it was not given to us to deliver us from sin’s consequences since we were already imperfect—sinners! Instead, God’s instruction shows us the perfection of Jesus Christ who is given to us as a Substitute who has kept God’s law perfectly. We can only come to the Lord God through Him. Are you seeking to come to God by your own obedience? If so, you have already failed! You need God’s Substitute Keeper of His Law.
