BLOG ON: SERMON The law summarized
Ridgefield Park Reformed Presbyterian
J. Bruce Martin
God’s law is often ignored or, at best, tolerated in our society. Perhaps you respond to laws as things to be tolerated rather than loved. But did you know that God gave you His law out of love! It is for your benefit.

But we often complain about rules, even God’s rules, because we think they are too confining. We would like to live our lives without the constraints of laws. Yet it is those rules that give us freedom!

You may wonder how that could be. Well, God made the world and everything in it including you. So when He gave you rules to be followed He knew what was best for you. So when you live by His rules you are able to enjoy life as He intended you to have it.

Our problem is that we have broken God’s rules so we have to put up with difficult circumstances and even confinement rather than happiness and freedom. But Jesus Christ came into the world and though He did not break even one of God’s rules, He submitted to the trials and confinement that belongs to us sinners. By faith in Jesus Christ we are able to enjoy freedom. Not only has Jesus obeyed God’s law for us, He also enables us to keep the law.
