Etymology

O.E. Lucifer "Satan," also "morning star," from L. Lucifer "morning star," lit. "light-bringing," from lux (gen. lucis) + ferre "carry" (see infer).

Belief that it was the proper name of Satan began with its used in Bible to translate Gk. Phosphoros, which translates Heb. Helel ben Shahar in Isaiah xiv.12 -- "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!" [KJV] The verse was interpreted by Christians as a reference to "Satan," because of the mention of a fall from Heaven, even though it is literally a reference to the King of Babylon (cf. Isaiah xiv.4).

OR
Is his name phosphorus???
Is his name helel ben shahar???

Why do we require his name?

"Now what \"inability\" does one have when the Bible refers to us as \"dead to sin"

We will always be sinners during the time we are alive in this world.

But when we are graciously called to Christ and the Holy spirit quickens us unto salvation, - then we are no longer under the "dominion" of sin.
IT is no longer our master.

Rom 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

To talk about "inability" in this context is the ancient art of Pelagianism/Arminianism, viz "human ability" which is predominant in their theories. Thus their reliance in human resources conflicts with Bible doctrine, and leads them into seeking greater power in the mortal.

The Battle between Christians and the folowers of Satan is becoming so obvious and public today.

The agenda appears to be, not just to prevent evangelical effort in the communities and nations, but to remove every last vestige and precept of Scripture from societal life in the west.

Ultimately to alienate the Christian witness from every human communication in village, town and city.

Rom 1:18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."
