and folks will still advocate for the professional clerics of presbyterianism and episcopalianism over the strongest defenders of the faith - the bible reading saints themselves.

The thief on the cross believed as Jesus said --- then his faith marathon continued as he believed all the way until his untimely death (finish line) on the cross a few hours later. It was his forward faith that ultimately mattered. Not so much his initial faith with Jesus listening. So it is for us all.

And if salvation weren't a process, why would Jesus bother saying to any of us, "Well done good and faithful servant" if it were merely our first moment of faith which really mattered?

Once the 60's abortifacient Pill ushered in unprecedented sexual anarchy, the Reformation's "point" salvation started down the way of the dinosaur.

Check out the devastation in the CoE, CoS, ECUSA, PC(USA), UCC, ELCA (UMC decision pending) all within a decade. In fact, this anarchy is so great that few theologians can think straight or even concentrate.

Irene, since you say salvation is a process,I would like your thoughts about the dying thief on the cross.
Just curious because my father never believed in "death-bed salvation" as he called it,maybe he thought it was a process too?

Because Salvation is a process (not just a moment in time), it's important to keep your wife lest you divorce, remarry another and adulterate your 1st love.

Without Piper's (et al) brilliant process soteriology, the sins of adultery and homosexuality will come to be counted as naught and explode through the roof.

“ Great Sermon that gives a blessed encouragement! ”
Thank you for this great sermon, it is such a great blessing to my soul. It touched my soul so deep in a strange time, felt like it was a sign for me, a message for me. I was having all these thoughts, was thinking who am I for the Lord to forgive, to listin to, or even to look at.. for I'm an awfully sinful girl & not deserving any mercy, not deserving that Jesus would lift my face up! I thank the Lord who I felt that He spoke to me through this great sermon in a time when I was so down & my soul was destroyed horribly indeed. Certainly He knows my needs & weaknesses. Thank you for this preaching. God bless you. Please keep me in your prayers always.
