What does TR stand for? And what is the objection to this manuscript anyway? It is the oldest.
My apologies John D. I didn't think when I was posting there. Yes SteveR is correct TR = Textus Receptus.

Here are a couple of sites which shows some of the problems with Codex Sinaiticus which was not discovered until the 1840's in a monastery. "can now see images of more than half of the 1,600-year-old Codex Sinaiticus manuscript."

This will please messrs Westcott and Hort.

I wonder if they discuss the huge variations of Sinaiticus with other manuscripts such as the TR? 7578 times where it differs from the TR. It even differs from the Vaticanus over 3000 times in the Gospels alone.
It has been said that Tischendorf (finder around 1840s) found some of it in the trash??

WHY
Would an evangelical be frustrated by what a Liberal believes and says???

Especially after these last five decades?

The President of the USA has apparently decided to overrule God on the issue of abomination and sodomite agenda.

Rom 1:32
1] "Knowing the judgment of God..." The knowledge and the judgment of God is clearly stated. Bible teaches that this evil sin is abomination. Yet
the Pseudo churches "debate"(?) these LAWS in an effort to reject them
in favour of iniquity, sin and lust.
2] "they.....are worthy of death..." God has pronounced His death sentence (Lev 20:13) upon those who disobey. They transgress God's Holy Law and
thus rebel against God. They follow Satan in their lust and the churches
become hypocrites and delete Holy Law as men pleasers, thus deserving of wrath.
3] "do the same....have pleasure in them that do them ..." None are
righteous no not one! All who allow the sin are equally guilty of the
transgression and will receive just punishment. At the bar of Christ
they will receive their just deserts of eternal damnation. They knew
God's position on this yet they sought to change His law and remove it
from the church and the nation, that the abomination might continue.

The church of Scotland is guilty as charged and in breach of Holy Law!

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them."

"the abuse of thousands of children in Catholic-run schools blamed successive Irish governments for permitting rape and other sadistic practices"

What can we expect? Yet another evil testimony to the anti-christ's organisation on earth.

Under the auspices of the Pope and his evil empire we are privy century after century to the satanic work of this heretical anathema pseudo-church! When will people learn.

Today we even observe a come back of this diabolical outrage! As the TRUE Church is reduced this malevolent ignorance grows.

The Reformers drew attention to the iniquity which the Popish empire brings to nations and society, but many in the churches fail to recognise this demoniacal spawn bring it's influence to bear upon nation, church and state. Liberalism being another branch of this same evil purpose. Arminian-free will yet another dangerous ally to this "Tares" amongst the wheat!

Prov 29:16 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall."

"The Privy Council has ruled in favour of non-Christians from Trinidad and Tobago saying that the Trinity Cross"

Trinidad and Tobago
If you read this then God said....

1Cor 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

May GOD send His servants into your harvest. Amen!

But it hasn't always been this good, as we've not always had a Bible in English. In England it was Latin only for a thousand years, and it is noticeable that there were very few converts.
There would not have been much point in producing Bibles in "local common language" in medieval times any way, since the mass of people could not read whether latin or local.

Quote
"It must be recognized that in the west from about 400 A.D. 'till about 1400, IF a person could read at all, he read Latin. To put it differently, if a person could not read Latin, then they most probably could not read at all! Western European languages during this period were constantly changing and evolving, thus there were no alphabets -and thus writing- in many vernacular languages. This is one reason why the entire Bible wasn't translated too often in the common tongue. But there are more reasons."

Sure there's symbolism there. I don't doubt that for one minute. And I'd LOVE to give Jesus another appropriate "title" in keeping with His character and person. That being said, I find only faint allusion to His being "the tree of life" in Scripture
In the garden of Eden there were two very special trees
1. The tree of Life.
2. The tree of death.

#2. Is better known as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, but I'm sure you'll see the point made.

Life comes only from God *IN* Christ Jesus His Son.
Death is existance without life in Christ.

Jesus words in Rev 2.7 "To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God."
Is not just "munch on this and you will live forever." But also Jesus is offering *LIFE* - IN Christ Himself, which *ONLY* HE can provide.

Not so much the "tree" - But more the "life" is the essential element to be considered.

Gal 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me"
See also Col 3:3,4.

Nothing God does is bad only faulty understanding considers such a proposition
"Sin’s evil is measured by God’s hatred of it and God’s wrath against it, and where shall we see that hatred and wrath against sin depicted in all its infinite extent but on Mount Calvary? It was there, on Christ’s blessed head, that the full and bitter cup of God’s fury against it was poured out, even to the dregs. Its evil is seen in its destroying the bodies – yea, and destroying the souls – of men; but how much more in its marring, more than any man’s, the face of Christ, in making His soul sorrowful, even unto death, in crucifying the Lord of glory!"

"He wrote to dozens of bishops, saying that he had learned through experience that most of the abusers were unrepentant, manipulative and dangerous. He called them “vipers.”"

I think we all knew that this was the case and it was not a problem which suddenly erupted in recent times. This report goes back to 1952, but how much further would this go back down the centuries if the research was done.

The real abomination is the cover up by the Roman Catholic Church.

The sexual appetite of priests is an obvious problem, which the RCC cannot handle, and it is time that the silly idea of celibacy was addressed and dumped.

1Corinthians 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

"It also found that the UK has one of the highest rates of "fuzzy faith" - or people who have an abstract belief in God and an ill-defined loyalty to Christian traditions."

Faith the gift of God prevents this malady.

What these people have is complete ignorance of Truth!

Psalm 101:6 Mine eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

For we walk by faith, not by sight

The stupid thing about this is that the puerile bureaucrats who instigate this kind of event, actually believe that the common people want this and are convinced by this.

What this really boils down to is the politically correct disease of liberalism apologising for being British.

Harry was obviously talking amongst a group of like minded pals who not only understood and received his remark in humour, but probably used the same term themselves. I wonder what justice they will receive???

The Orwellian Big Brother Liberal scourge in todays blinkered society seeks to re-educate Winston all over again in "newspeak."

I wish people would wake up and do something about it. But Satan's domain is too dark to see through.

Proverbs 4:19 The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.

"Mrs Petrie, 45, was suspended without pay on 17 December following a complaint from the patient to the North Somerset Primary Care Trust."

Whats interesting about events such as this is the direction in which things seem to be going. The increase in these anti-Christian incidents is growing and that suggests the struggle is getting more intense. The mind set or zeitgeist of the age is demonstrating Satan's influence is being allowed to increase.
Trying times for the Church.

This doesn't help me understand how man can love God if he is forced.
The sinner in their natural estate cannot perceive God as Father and Love because of the power of sin dominion over their heart and faculties.

Whereas the saved sinner made free by the Truth, grace and the Holy Spirit Can perceive God His mercy and His wisdom.
He becomes Abba Father as Paul says.
"For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

This is not "forced"

This is complete freedom from the effects and restraints of the sinful wretched estate of natural man.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth:

I think that some people are born homosexual.
I disagree GG;
Born sinners yes, - BUT not born with a genetic specific influence which prevents them from true repentance.

May I refer you to this article please.
By John Frame.

]]But GOD made me this Way.

For example Frame writes

"So, if we excuse homosexuality on the basis of genetic predisposition, we should equally excuse all acts resulting from environmental influence and from bad choices in the past. Whether a compulsion has a genetic basis is ethically irrelevant."

GG wrote:
have to do with homosexual acts, or having pleasure in there action, and not the tendency toward homosexuality. There is no sin in temptation until we submit to it. God's grace is sufficient.
GG;
Good to see you again. Merry Christmas.
And come to the Reformed Church.

The problem really is in the wording here quote, "The Catholic Church teaches that while homosexuality is not sinful" Now GG are you able to agree that homosexuality is NOT of itself sinful??
OR
Rape is not a sin until an act?
OR
Murder is not a sin until an act?
OR
Adultery is not a sin until an act?

"But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart."

OR
We are NOT sinners until we act???

The apparent suggestion is that sin is not sin until it is an act. Jesus gave Himself for our sins(Gal 1:4) - I assume you reckon the rest of us, temptation and all, is pure as the driven snow then?

When we are "born again" we are born with the ability to identify sin, lust, covetousness etc. These are not just potential acts - but sin!
Homosexuality IS - IS sinful!

Ro 7:17 "Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me"

"Pope Benedict said Monday that saving humanity from homosexual or transsexual behaviour was just as important as saving the rainforest from destruction."

I realise the analogy he makes is addressed to a specific group, but I think that saving the planet by ecowarrior, is rather different to the onset and growth of sodom and gomorrah.
The Word of God has nothing to say about rainforrests and their demise, whereas has a lot to warn about the abomination.

"The Catholic Church teaches that while homosexuality is not sinful, homosexual acts are."

If ever there was a conflict in terms this is one of them.
Homosexuality is a product of sin and lust; - ALL sin should be warned and fought against by the church.

God's Word on the subject...

Lev 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

"The Office for National Statistics published figures for under-18 pregnancies in England and Wales, showing a rise of at least 2.7 per cent in the rate last year.
The figures mean Britain will cement its position as the country with the highest teenage pregnancy levels in Europe."

Obviously the PC/liberal penchant for sex education at schools is working wonders amongst the children.

Prov 15:11 Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

Prov 20:11 Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

Prov 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

"Mr Cogman, 50, accused the police service of becoming so sensitive to the rights of gays that Christians could no longer safely express their views."

Bureaucrats and politicians are becoming more and more PC-Liberal, which replaces all decent authority in our institutions and morals. Thus does Britain descend into hell and damnation.

This is going to get far worse.

Christianity if fast becoming a crime in Britain.

But it has all been predicted.....

Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Psalm 12:8 The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
