Yes, we should reach out to those around us no matter what sins they have in their lives. We all need to be reconciled unto God. There is not a man or woman who reads this post that has any room to throw stones at sin. (That includes me)

The difference is that most people are not proud of their sin(s). You won't hear people screaming and marching for the right to steal, cheat, lie, murder, etc. Most people are sorry for what they have done. By way of sharpest contrast, homosexuals tend to defend their bad behavior with a vengence and demand that you and I not only tolerate their behavior, but that we CONDONE it! I for one refuse to do that. Love the sinner - hate the sin.

I agree that there are other sins that are terrible, divorce being a good example that someone else mentioned. Have you ever seen anyone called a hatemonger because he spoke against divorce? Have you ever heard anyone say, "I am a thief / liar / cheater / adulterer / etc and proud of it, and you preach hate to say that it is wrong!" Why do we melt at the sin of sodomy?

Homosexuality is the squeaky wheel of our time, so we need to give it some extra grease. Go Baptists! Don't give the devil a foothold.

Just to add to William from Houston's comment,

Look at the following:

Genesis 2:2-3 "And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."

Leviticus 23:3 "Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings."

Exodus 20:11 "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it."
