JD,Do you see anything wrong with your statement here down below?............ "Jesus was just a man like us who became the Son of God when he rose from the dead. Before that, He was not God's Son, and He never was God Himself. He was just a man like us who became the Son of God at his resurrection". Does anyone see the heresy in this? I am not calling you a heretic JD but what you just said here is heretical. Jesus was God from His birth to His death to His resurrection. |

Michael,There is a great book and easy to read that you could perhaps give to your mother if she likes to read that is. It's called understanding roman catholicism. It's written by a former catholic who God rescued from that darkness. His name is Rick Jones. If you go to chick.com web site you can get it there. Rick Jones writes in a loving, compassionate fashion and addresses all the errors in catholicism by placing them juxtaposed to scripture. Another good book to share to catholics to witness to is: answers to my catholic friends by Thomas Heinz also at chick.com. I am sorry to hear your mom is not saved, but certainly keep telling her the truth and pray for her. I know God will bless you with an answer from a sincere heart. You know Michael, God has saved many out of that babylonian system and has used them to witness to other catholics not yet saved. Charles Chiniquy, a former priest wrote a book also about his conversion and about the 50 yrs. he spent in the "church" of Rome. |

Michael,When I was 4, my mother felt it was time for me to receive Jesus as my Savior so she came to me and told me what I needed to do and in my stubborn pride and strong independent personality I folded my arms over my chest and said "no, I don't need Jesus". That night my mother prayed for me and on that same night the Lord sent me a dream. I dreamed that I got hit by a truck while crossing the road and died and then went to Hell. In the dream, Hell was a very real place and scared my so bad that I cried out to Jesus to save me and He did. He pulled me out of that pit with His righteous right hand and saved me. From that day forward I knew Jesus was a real person because His spirit came inside me and His presence was very real at that time and still is. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. |

Michael,I think the calvinist who may not display an attitude of love could perhaps be those who are "hyper" in their calvinism. I definitely lean toward calvinism or reformed in my theology but I sure am not "hyper" in it and I have no hatred toward those who disagree with reformed theology. I am a strong advocate for preaching the gospel everywhere, where ever you are, any opportunity you have, for no one...including calvinists.....are omniscient. Who knows who are the elect except God so therefore we are commanded to preach the gospel to everyone. And yes, you are right we all have to stop and think how much we all need God's forgiveness through His Son. It takes the same amount of grace to redeem a calvinist as it does an arminist..... from God's perspective anyway. |

JD,"The futility is overwhelming"........ Debating calvinism and arminism is like trying to run 100 marathons (26.2 miles) back to back. It is extremely exhausting. Christians should learn to agree to disagree on that. But compromising with Rome as in the light of ECT, that should not be compromised...that in my opinion is treason. There are some very strong points made in calvinism or reformed theology and those who are in opposition to it, also have strong points. Nevertheless, you are correct in saying, "the futility is overwhelming"!!!! I guess my goal or aim is to strive for balance. |
