I used WinAmp for a long time until I began to transcribe certain sermons. Realplayer is the easiest to start and stop, plus back up a few seconds and replay, so I switched to Realplayer 10.

MusicMatch is the best one for me even though I like WinAmp.

I am surprised more people are not using iTunes. Not knocking WMP or WinAmp which are both excellent programs, but I iTunes has really grown on me this past year, although it lacks some features I want like, in say, WinAmp.

ipod. Though itunes is a little sluggish at times, it's pretty simple.

Jetaudio, it is excellent and very versatile. Can also be used for recording streaming audio onto your computer and for converting audio files between the different types. Best of all, its free!

How can you let Real Player out of this list? I have used it for years, especially now that I have switched to Linux, since Microsoft cannot be bothered to provide a Windoze Media Player for it.

Audioactive is a free, simple mp3 player. It also has a playlist editor to help you categorize your collection into topics or groups. No fuss, no splash, it just works and works properly.

I use WinAmp, but every now and then when I click on a "Play Now" button for a sermon, instead of the sermon I hear: "WinAmp! It really whips the lama's [donkey]!" Clearing my internet files fixes it, but the first couple times it made me wonder what these churches were preaching.

I like Winamp, it is small and consumes very little resources.
