The Supreme Court has legalized a fundamental change in marriage. That change completely alters the nature of marriage. So, the question is raised, "What is Marriage?" Marriage is not a human invention. Marriage was instituted at the establishment of the human race. Eve was made for Adam to be his suitable help. And she was brought to the man and given to him. The continuation of mankind is thereby facilitated through marriage as a covenant union. Therefore, marriage is between a man and a woman for a lifetime. It is fundamental to the preservation of the human race. So, the health and perpetuation of marriage as it was instituted, is necessary to the health and well-being of all mankind. From it children are derived and life goes on. Families are formed, homes are established, real love is given its true environment. Marriage, as instituted by God, is therefore fundamental to civilization. All arguments to the contrary are destructive of life, happiness, the continuation of mankind, and civilization. But as Christians, marriage, as God defines it, is fundamental to the Christian faith. It is the analogy of the covenant relation between Christ and His church. The families established in Christian marriage are the long-term building blocks of the church of Jesus Christ. |
