SERMON INFO
This piece of pure praise brings the entire Psalter to its crescendo; it is as though everything has been said and all that remains is this responsive outburst of praise. The psalm begins and ends with 'Hallelujah,' and it is filled with resounding, spontaneous praise, but there is a structure to be seen and some truths to be learned along the way. This psalm offers some timeless lessons on the nature of true worship.

The Where of True Worship (v.1)
Praise is called for 'in His sanctuary,' which can also be translated 'in His holiness.' True worship on earth is a heavenly act in which we are united in purpose with the glorified saints and heavenly hosts.

The Why of True Worship (v.2)
We are to praise Him for His mighty acts and His excellent greatness.

The How of True Worship (vs.3-5)
Each instrument in this symphony of praise calls to mind a different Old Testament context. Now the most vibrant instrument is a faithful heart (Eph 5:19), and the most symphonic sound is the 'one mouth' of God's people (Rom 15:6).

The Who of True Worship (v.6)
Everything that has breath is to answer this call to worship with the praise of the true God. Our calling and our purpose, as well as our witness to the world, cannot be better summarized by any other word than 'Hallelujah!'
