All of human history is pointing toward one inevitable point, the return of Jesus Christ. The Church is to live in such a way as to prepare for this imminent return of Christ. The mutual duties we are to obey in these last days encompass the way in which we live toward ourselves, the manner we live before the Church, and the way in which we live with those around us. Each of these mutual duties has great eternal significance and show forth praise to our Lord.
In our personal duties we are to be self controlled and sober minded with the knowledge that Christ is returning, with our thoughts brought in conformity to the Word of God. Coming to Christ includes the attachment to the visible Body of Christ, and we are to continue to love one another earnestly in our ongoing Christian calling. The gift of hospitality is one outworking of the Church's mutual love. The showing of hospitality to strangers has been used of God in the conversion of many of his elect, and in building His church Christ has granted his people the opportunity of living in the presence of many strangers. The Lord's people are to use each spiritual gift to serve one another in love, remembering that these gifts come from the Lord for his own glory and the betterment of the saints. As we obey God and show forth the Lord in our ministry and service, we reflect His glory and praise before the eyes of men.
