The conversation between Christ and Nicodemus has much to teach us regarding the nature of salvation. Nicodemus is a respected religious authority among the people who despite his status comes to Christ to have basic questions of the faith answered. In this sense, he is representative of all who will come to the Lord both great and humble. Unless men are born again they cannot see the work of God in building His kingdom, and Jesus declares to Nicodemus that he must be born again to see and understand. Just as the wind goes wherever it will, the Holy Spirit goes where it will working salvation according to the secret council of God. Jesus calls many to repent and look upon Him that they may not perish but have eternal life.
