SERMON INFO
1. Biblical teaching on membership of the visible and universal church.

- church membership in Scripture recognised by baptism, Acts 2:41,47.
- no unbaptised member of the church of Christ found in the NT, Rom 6:3; Gal 3:27; Mark 16:16.
- Baptism always had one meaning but admission to it two routes. Professing believer's and their children recognised as candidates for baptism and admitted as members of the visible church. Acts 8:36-38; 1 Cor 7:14.

2. The privileges and responsibility of church membership.
- privilges, duties of members and overseers.
- the obligation to receive the oversight, presupposers church membership of a particular congregation.

3. How church membership works in a multi-denominational setting.
- the duty of every Christian to be baptised and join themselves formally to a particular congregation.
- Qualifications for admission to the Lord's Supper and admission to church membership should be as close as possible.
- Every Christian should seek a church where all the marks of biblical truth, worship and order/government are maintained and the sacraments administered - the dangers of not joining a sound biblical church.
