This world tries to keep a bit in our mouths. Our culture and society want us to keep our heads down and focus on this world and our physical gratification. But, we are not animals. God has created us for so much more! The Lord has made us to look up to Him with thankfulness.
God is so good and has been so good to us. He is faithful, pure, holy, loving, and self-sacrificial. He cares for our needs: physical, emotional, and spiritual. Our hearts ought to abound with thanks for who He is and how He cares for us. And, as His children we should be more like Him.
This means that we are to be holy as He is holy. We are to put off all sorts of sins that easily entangle us. There is a normalization of sin that pervades our cultures. As a society we are consumed with lust and greed. The Lord has called these sins out as specifically anti-Christian. His children must not be marked as those who practice the things this world loves. We are to be holy, pure, and thankful. We are His children and as His children we should look and live as God desires. |
