BLOG ON: SERMON Transitions in Praise
Ridgefield Park Reformed Presbyterian
J. Bruce Martin
Our primary duty in life is to praise God. He is our Maker, and though our first parents sinned against Him, and thus we became sinners, He has provided for our redemption. He did that by providing the acceptable sacrifice.
All our life needs to revolve around the Lord and His praise. We are to be conscious of His work in us, around us, and for us. The crescendo of this praise is in the service of covenant renewal as we gather to praise Him on the Lord’s Day.
But this praise is not something we design ourselves. Remember that we are sinners—our minds have been corrupted by that sin. As a result we need directions on how to praise the Lord, so we take our directions from Him. After all, He knows what pleases Him far better than we could know without His revelation.
The atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ is at the heart of the praise we are to bring to the Lord. But anyone who is not covered by that atoning sacrifice will not be able to praise Him properly for it. Are you covered by His merciful work for sinners? If not, we urge you to call on Him for this mercy, seeking Him with all your heart.
Pastor Martin or another Christian will be glad to visit with you about this great blessing. Receive His mercy so that you will be able to praise Him as He made you to do.
