The Ford Motor Company used to use a light bulb in its commercials to depict understanding of something good. The bulb would light and the announcer would say, “Ford has a better idea.” We use this metaphor throughout society. This metaphor is found many times in the Word of God. There it also is used to indicate understanding and revelation. On the other hand, darkness indicates a lack of wisdom and understanding as well as evil intentions. If people need to hide, they like darkness. Jesus calls Himself the Light of the World because He was sent from the Father to make clear to us the Gospel. He came to save sinners. But sinners need to understand the truth; the fact is though, that we sinners cannot understand the truth until our hearts are opened to understand it. It will not make sense without God’s Spirit shedding His light in us se we can know the truth. We want you to know the truth in Jesus Christ. Plead with God that He will open your heart to understand the Gospel and have mercy on you.
