God’s Favor
How can we have God’s favor? That is the eternal question. It is one we must get right and not merely guess at it. Yet many are doing just that—guessing as to how to have God’s favor.
Many are hoping they have been good enough and, as if to convince God, they will say that they are good. But Jesus pointed out to a young man who called Him good that there is not one who is good except God alone. And isn’t it God’s assessment that counts?
Since no mere human is good we must agree that none of us is good enough. In fact, God tells us that He requires perfection of us. And since there is nothing hidden from Him, none of us is able to hide our sins from Him.
But there is a way to have God’s favor. It is not by putting a good spin on our deeds and it isn’t in bribing God with anything. Instead, it is favor that He chooses to give you by pouring out His curse on Jesus Christ in your place. He calls you to trust in the perfect work of Jesus and His sacrificial death so that Jesus’ perfect goodness is credited to your account.
We urge you to trust in Christ to receive this favor. Perhaps you have questions about it. We urge you to take this opportunity to seek the favor and mercy of God in Jesus Christ.
