“ Wow! ” I cannot remark enough how my heart was stirred by this sermon! Zach uses Jeremiah for a most wonderful introduction to Ezra 1, and closes the message so powerfully in prayer for Coldenham-Newburgh and its future! Incidentally, like a good ploughman — great scriptural ground is opened up throughout his text!
If your heart does not begin to beat more energetically through your hearing of this message — I believe I would fear for your life! For this young preacher takes everyone back to a day of awakenings — and invites each one to experience his own! If I lived within sixty miles of this church, this is where I’d be driving every week. Really quite remarkable! Amen!
Makes me want to run out the door and preach on one of our street corners today!
“ Not your average student interview! ” I’ll call this the “2-Zach’s Interview,” because while the surnames differ — both of these students have the “given-name” of “Zach” or Zachary! I found both these students inspiring, in terms of their current work for the Lord, theological acumen and their love for church history.
Their interview together reveals the living vitality amongst the students that will be found at Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary today. Theological ennui (weariness) and weakness afflict all our American churches today; but this interview reveals the Holy Spirit’s activity in GTS’s student life — and their zeal for a modern church awakening.
I sense a great love for Christ and his kingdom in this conversation, and will pray more for GPTS on that account! Thank you “Zach’s” for this compelling conversation! I found it so encouraging.

How much more wonderful was it to reference this sermon of “Trusting in the Darkness!” Gavin: I love the wonderful economy & precision of vocabulary that you display, as it opens up these Scripture sections! Surely this theme was well-placed for our day! For a darkness prevails over our land, and few are the places where the light shines forth and God’s truth may be heard. And yet both in text and title you pointed all of us to faith —at precisely just such times! I give thanks to God for your emigration to our shores. May God bless this ministry and this sermon! “ Full of Light ” What a glorious theme, this worship of God! As I listened to this message — which must be one of the best ever heard on the fact of worship — all I could think of was the light that was shining during this hour! Coldenham-Newburgh locates itself just north of one of our planet’s great cities! Despite all its activity, and hustle and bustle — the question could be asked: “But is this a lighted city? Does glorious light shine there?” And I would respond: I does shine in this wee church, just north of the city’s locus. Our glorious Christ is here lifted up, according to his Word, on the lips of hearty believers — who are united in spirit and word. God bless you Mr. Dodson, for giving yourself over to Psalm 63 as I heard in this sermon. Surely this must have been one of the most wonderful proclamations in the midst of these millions of peoples. May God’s Name be praised! Amen!
“ Great Sermon! ” Preaching is such a fragile thing: We take up God’s holy text with these earthen hands, asking, “Canst Thou O Christ — speak through me?” Is this not a far thing, and an ethereal thing? Can it be done? I heard Christ’s sweet voice throughout this sermon, and I rejoiced greatly in it! Zach Dotson loves Christ’s text, and since he and the Spirit agree — wonderful things are discovered. I find myself greatly moved/blessed by this preaching. I hope others will too. You MUST! Because where the Spirit and Word do mix — there IS great blessing!
“ Great Sermon! ” Such a penetrating, searching sermon! I give thanks to God to know that such preaching as this still exists. This sermon caused me to hate my sin all over again, and in greater ways! Only the Spirit can work such ends; and upon that point I would also say that this qualifies as a “spiritual” sermon. This sermon will only cause me to pray more for my young friend, Zachary — that the Lord would preserve him for the future — that his sermonic days may be long and blessed!

The fatal flaw in this effort to defend marriage lies in its secularism. They're trying to use human opinion, statistics, logic, etc. But God is jealous for HIS ORIGINAL AUTHORITY. Until we base our arguments, case, etc on "Thus Sayeth the Lord!" (Ie the Bible) God will not prosper our effort. But this is precisely what evangelicalism (much less conservatism) is unwilling to do. God is mocking is for our timidity. I fear even the "reformed" church is fearful of speaking to the social issues based on God's Word. Let us fearlessly begin to speak boldly on the basis of God's word! We may have to suffer for righteousness, but we would begin to win some of these battles. God's name would be involved in the struggle!
