“ Great Sermon! ”
An excellent analysis of an important topic that is not often addressed - the importance of being a member of a local church.

“ Excellent Teaching! ”
A thorough, comprehensive and understandable description of the Gospel as taught in the Bible! I wish that all the church would listen and repent of human techniques and ideologies that claim to be the Gospel but are in fact no Gospel at all! This is a message to share with your leaders.

Sermon:
The Foolish Promise
Pastor William Poss

“ Very interesting and practical Sermon! ”
Very interesting and insightful. I had not heard of the various ideas associated with Jephthah's daughter not necessarily being a burnt offering - that was interesting; but particularly insightful was Pastor Bill's observation that Jephthah, after making a rash vow, could have atoned for his foolishness (as provision was made in the law for atonement for rash vows), but he did not make use of this. Instead, seeking to attain his own righteousness, Jephthah sought to fix his first sin by breaking another law. It is a reminder of the need that we all have for grace - as well as our propensity to attempt to keep one law foolishly thinking that this will "atone" for breaking another.

One Too Many

“ Great point! ”
Thank you for making the well-stated point that Gideon's 300 were not some kind of "super stars." It has often bothered me, how so many commentators have suggested that there was some virtue in the manner in which the 300 drank water. The irony is that they suggest this about a text which emphasizes and teaches man's complete inability and God's absolute sufficiency. Talk about robbing God of glory! This just goes to show the wickedness of man's heart as he continues to seek to find some virtue in himself.

Sermon:
Does He Dwell In You?
Pastor William Poss
1
comment
“ Listen and Examine Yourself! ”
There is a reason that Spurgeon preached more about false conversions than any other subject - because he realized just how many in his day in the church were not truly regenerated and as a result headed for hell! How much more is this true in today's apostate church. I cannot urge you more earnestly to to obey the Scripture and "examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?"(2 Cor 13:5) Do not assume that because you profess faith that you are bound for heaven - this is Satan's greatest lie, and he is fooling many in the chruch today. Don't be fooled, rather make your calling and election sure. Find out if Christ does indeed dwell in you. Please listen to this study and consider forwarding it to a friend whose soul you care enough about to warn - they just may be snatched from the fires of hell. But do not fear, if you are truly His, this sermon will provide you with much comfort as well.

“ The Debate is Over! ”
An excellent, comprehensive and concise study that lays to rest the argument of whom Paul speaks of in Romans 7 and calls those who do not agree to repentance!

JD,

You said, "Joe is the last one to demonstrate taking many presuppositions to a text where they are not addressed."

It still remains, the sovereignty of God can be found in John chapter one and you have not tried to disproove that it is not.

You speak many words but nothing with biblical substance.

JD,

The sovereignty of God is definitely included in the context of John chapter 1. You cannot see it because you are blind and further blinded by the likes of C.I Scofield, J.N Darby and Charles Finny Finnyism.

You quoted John 1:7-10

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

Christ revealed to Nicodemus spiritual truths that he failed to see being a master of Israel. That was the problem with the Pharisees and the Jewish religious leaders, they were outward and not spiritual. Those who are not born of the Spirit are not spiritual but carnal and outward.

JD,

You said,

"Joe, continue in your dishonest ways!"

I am just exposing YOUR dishonest ways when you twist and wrest the Scriptures to make the free will of man usurp the soveriegn will of God.

BTW, to be "born again" is not in a Jewish context it is spiritual. If the context was Jewish, Nicodemus would have known what Christ meant and not asked the question, "How can a man be born when he is old?".

JD,

You said,

"Why did he give them power TO BECOME the sons of God instead of making them sons of God at that very instant of their receiving him by believing on him?"

First, you used the word "give" in the wrong tense. God "gave" them power to become the sons of God. Therefore the "many" must have been given power to receive him and this context is emphasized in verse 13, "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God".

You make verse 13 contradict verse 12 of John chapter 1.

Yes JD, one should meditate on these truths.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
(John 1:12-13)

Many "received him" why? because God "gave he power to become the sons of God."

Notice the past tense verb "GAVE he power to become" that relates to the past tense verb "recieved".

Discerned Believer,

You asked,

"Does that mean that all of you who claim that the Ten Commandments are not binding are antinomians?"

I cannot answer your question for all on here, but I can answer for myself. By being bound to Christ by grace and not the law I am set at liberty from sin and Satan and desire to establish the law. Therefore, I am for the law and not against it as an antinomian would be. A true antinomian is one who says the law is not binding and pretends to use this liberty in Christ to sin more freely.

2Peter 2:19-22

"While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage. For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire."

Continued...

*Further, they that are bound to Christ delight in the law of God and behold the glory of Christ’s righteousness, which is imputed onto them through His redemption and shedding of blood.

Romans 4:6-8
“Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.”

1 Corinthians 1:30
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”

Galations 2:21
“I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”

*The Ten Commandments are not binding on the Christian for if they were, then they be not bound in Christ but bound to the law. It was Christ who was bound to the law and perfectly fulfilled and obeyed it.

Galations 4:4-5
“But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.”

*Those who are bound to the law will be condemned for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

Galations 3:10
“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”

*Those who are bound to Christ by grace are set at liberty and strive to keep the law as a standard of life to establish the law.

Galations 5:1
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

Romans 3:31
“Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.”

Michael,

You said in response to my question,

"Get real, of course it is not!
I never said that did I. So kindly don't accuse me or insinuate something to me that I never said.

Beside you shouldn't forget that with God all things are possible."

I am being very real for this is what the Scriptures teach and are Christ's doctrines. I just asked you a question and I believe all things are possible with God because the Bible says so.

So if you agree that salvation is impossible with man how can a man choose Christ to be saved when he is a sinner dead in trespasses and sins? Does this not oppose free-will and arminianism?

Michael,

Why do you argue against Christ's doctrine?

Your the one who said,

"It seems with some 'Calvinists' thankfully not all they make TULIP (Election)out to be more important than Christ..."

I replied,

"You place Christ at enmity agaist His precious truth and doctrines. Is this truly exalting Christ yet neglecting His doctrine? Remember Christ is the Word. The doctrines of grace are Christ's doctrine. How can you love Christ when you do not abide in His doctrine? They go together and are one."

Then I summarized Christ doctrines and you replied.

"If you care to notice He emphasised those who heard and acted upon His words versus those who did not."

In response to your comment, Christ said to the astonished disciples,

"And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, WHO THEN CAN BE SAVED? And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is IMPOSSIBLE, but not with God: for with God all things are POSSIBLE."
(Mar 10:26-27)

Salvation is not conditioned on the sinner it is conditioned on Christ.

Michael,

Here are Christ's doctrines:

Total depravity: Christ said,

"And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? THERE IS NONE GOOD BUT ONE, that is, God. "
Mark 10:18

Unconditional Election: Christ said,

"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you."
John 15:16

Limited Atonement: Christ said,

"For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."
Matthew 26:28

Irresistible Grace: Christ said,

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit."
John 3:6-8

Perseverance of the saints: Christ said,

"ALL THAT THE FATHER GIVETH ME SHALL COME TO ME; and him that cometh to me I WILL IN NO WISE CAST OUT...that of all which he hath given me I SHOULD LOSE NOTHING."
Joh 6:37-39

2 John 1:9

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
