The Holy Ghost, being my teacher.
But then you don't have the Prebyterianised version indwelling you, so you cannot even be a true Christian!

1] I have read the entire Bible several times. It is the reason why I am a Calvinist and a Presbyterian. The Holy Spirit has guided me into the whole counsel of God by Grace.
Then why did you ask such a ridiculous question? You obviously did not know the answer!

The promise is the same promise throughout Scripture. It is the Covenant of Grace.
What?!! Can't bring yourself to believe the promise from the immediate context of Acts 2 and therefore want to import your own sense of the promise into that passage!! Why doesn't that surprise me?

Christ was circumcised as a baby. If circumcision and baptism are exact equivalents, why do you suppose he needed to be baptised as an adult?

If you ever want to know why children might be leaving the churches consider that it may be God's warning to those who are guilty of covenant neglect......
Here is a good read on the error of the catabaptists...

1] Question for you John. "How do you tell between the true and false believer in the Baptist church? I Know! Perhaps you ask them. Then get them to make a profession! Yes?
Read 1 John. You might get a real challenge to your own profession of faith! By their fruits ye shall know them!

# GOD'S Promise *IS* to Christians *AND* their children. God has declared so!
But the promise is "..Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost". Ever known a baby as a baby to repent?

The term baptizw βαπτιζω/βαπτω in koine Greek is applied to sprinkle, pour, wash and dip or immerse. Your denom has decided it has only one meaning. The Greeks had other ideas about it.
Lies!

The experience of Moses and the Israelites is a type or example of Jesus and the Church. All were baptized into Moses. No baby left behind in Egypt because he or she could not believe...meaning they were baptized into Moses as well. So, either these believed or it is not an issue to get stuck on(whether the baby believes or does not)...or when this happened, all were mature and there were no babies, which sounds rather crazy, but maybe it was so.
Ha! That was the generation that perished in the wilderness, with very few exceptions. So much for this picturing salvation!! Or are you suggesting that in this too the antitype is found in Christ?!

So, since both circumcision and baptism are covenant signs and seals (Romans 4:11; Col 2:11-12) why are children excluded?
They are not the same at all. You Presbys. have a nasty habit of closing your eyes when reading the NT.

CoramDeo wrote:
Yes, the sign and seal has changed in that it 1.)is no longer bloody and 2.)is broader in scope as it applies to boys and girls.
But it has not changed in that it still signifies and authorizes God's covenant promises to either OT Isreal or NT church.
Ha! Ha! Ha! You get yourself into real difficulties and cannot even see how absurd your attempt at wriggling out is!

BUT that's what happens folk when you stray from the simplicity of the Gospel!!

In Catholic Theology......Jesus suffered to remove our 'Eternal Guilt', provided we repent and promise to amend our lives. His payment is complete and perfect. But, this is only part of my sin. .... An indulgence is issued to a sinner who has already repented of his sins to Christ and has promised to amend his life in confession. Hence, his 'Eternal Guilt' is expiated perfectly, but his 'Temporal Guilt' may remain. Human suffering removes most 'Temporal Guilt' but not necessarily all. The indulgence requires some action to offer as restitution. It does not save from Hell. It's not a 'Get outta Jail free' card. Its only covers 'Temporal Guilt' and restitution......
The heretical RC teaching that Tetzel espoused rehashed for the readers of SA.. The only difference now is that money does not change hands (at least to my knowledge).

We need a modern Reformation to cure such blindness and ignorance!
