Disagreement does not equal contention. Just because someone disagrees and makes a contradictory point to yours does not mean that they are just trying to be argumentative. They may very well be attempting to give a more biblical, clear understanding of a matter. It’s difficult to know someone’s motives.
Personally, I don’t see any deceit or evasion in quoting Scriptures that apply to a particular topic. They were not only within the context of our discussion but were also being quoted in the context of their positions in Scripture.
Yes, they were contradictory to Sister B.’s position on the definition of boasting but were not deceptive or crafty in any way. They were in fact very out in the open, clear, and to the point.
Sorry, but I think I am also reading between the lines. I also try to think about what you are saying and not just swallowing it hook, line, and sinker.
You say that the generic term “ruler” is better than “king”. You are allowed to have your own opinion.

Someone said: “ The problem with modern modes of government is the humanistic foundation”. Yes, humanism ruins it all, every time. But it isn’t just modern modes that suffer from humanism; ancient modes of government were fraught with problems.
What mode of civil government do you propose? Definitely not anarchy...

2. Yes, so after all the good and godly kings of history we say that just because we had many bad ones too, absolute monarchy is a bad form of government. That’s like saying because we’ve had so many wicked presidents over the years a democracy or republic is automatically a bad form of government. That’s illogical. Just because you bit into a rotten apple doesn’t mean you should never buy apples again. Maybe change the shopping market, but don’t just write them off.
B. McC, I didn’t say that the king shouldn’t have advisors or listen to counsel. The term, “Absolute monarchy” is the name for a particular form of government. Definitely God is the only “absolute” in the true sense of the term. Thanks for being technical. I totally agree with you on that.
You still have not shown me how an “absolute monarchy” form of government is unbiblical. Like a king ruling a country, you know. I don’t mean dictatorship either.
