Those Bible verses concern Christians not "Christians"
I was going to state that a Christian would not take an oath of office contrary to the Scripture, which an oath of office to uphold a Deist Constitution is. I believe it is increasingly plain that they must dissent. But since I did not really understand what you were trying to say, I was trying to, having read 1 John this morning it came to mind, as I considered the issues the article asserts and we discuss.

I asked where is this "most accurate source".
I stated, the word of God and his living epistles post canon, recorded in history with consistency and an observable testimony to others of like precious faith. Paul's words came to mind regarding what I was trying to say. 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 "Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you? Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart." Men and women who live what they have learned of God, from apostolic teaching, through His gifts to them of pastors/teachers, even when at times they, needs be, in print.

In the past, here on SA I have recommended history sources for reading, if you are interested in what I have asserted. It was the history recorded in troublous times, and that I, myself have found most helpful, post canon of Scripture. I've tried to be more clear in what I now have again attempted to articulate in answer to your little man with the ???

"Looking forward to having a "Christian" president again?"

1 John 1:7-10 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us."
1 John 2:1-6 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

"As CNSNews.com reported, the House on Tuesday voted 396-9 in support of a non-binding resolution reaffirming "In God We Trust" as the national motto. Of the nine who voted against it, 8 were Democrats."

When I read this I think 396 out of 9 in the House of Representatives know it is an election issue and they vote in favor of not changing the national motto but make it a non-binding or a 'I wouldn't bind my soul by oath to it' decision. Maybe next election it will be more in vogue to appeal to the greater number of humanist voters. At the rate we are degenerating from the God of the Scripture Father, Son and Holy Ghost as a nation; it would not be inconceivable that they may have a greater voice in 4 years. Though personally, I do not believe this will be true of every nation who is as guilty as we or all people in this nation. But the USA is at a cross-road. Who is your God, America? The God of the deist or the Scripture.

How were the males circumcised the first time? By passing through the cloud and the sea? This is what Paul (1 Cor. 10:1-5) and Matthew Henry understood, RP?
Forgive me if you are not asking where I inserted ?'s, but if you are asking me for what I understand and find hard to articulate, in a helfpful way; I would infer that since we also have the example of Moses' wife circumcising his son in a similar fashion, and inference of the procedure as regards Jacob's intended son-in law and his people in an implied fashion it is the same procedure. My point was, if I was unclear, the word baptizo is a transliteration for identifying so thoroughly one takes on the nature of that which it is baptized with. The sop on the night before the Lord was crucified was baptized a piece of bread dipped in a liquid is still a piece of bread but now it has taken on the property of the liquid. Hebrews 6 speaks to Jews of diverse washings. They all had significance to a Jewish mind set. Moses was a prophet and a king in Jeshurun, a type of Christ. The Scripture tells us the cloud and rock that followed them was Christ. Are we not told that Christ was the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world? Moses is identified with Sinai but God parted the

And the "most accurate source" is found where?
Thank you.
The Word of God or the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are of course an inspired source of history. But since the Church's history did not end with the close of the canon of Scripture, then I have had to use multiple sources until I found the children of Israel or in NT terms those who are in grafted into the root of Abraham's promised seed, Jesus Christ all one, by faith in the promise. These are those who have not only a form of godliness, but the power of it by demonstration of the truth that is in Jesus Christ. He himself, the full measure of it. He gives to his children in measure. Those whose lives were most consistent with the description left by the prophet John in 1 John. A read through this epistle is very heart searching, and should be for all little born ones (children to the Ancient of Days) encouraging and instructive.

Neil, because I really did not grasp your meaning, I cannot respond. If you want a response(?) you'd need to clarify what you are asking or asserting, at least for me.

Do you always baptise on the eighth day? Do you also baptise female infants at eight days?
Males were circumcised on the eighth day because their blood clotting factor was not ready until then. In hospital births a shot of vitamin K for clotting is given the infant then he can be circumcised earlier. Christ's blood has been shed. Circumcision was a type of the blood shedding necessary to forgive sin. Your attempt here is irrelevant to the assertion we make. The 'brethren'/children (all ages crossed over the Red Sea) "They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea." 1 Cor. 10:1-5 Paul understood what you don't seem to. This was their identification with Christ not Sinai, as you assert. You use Rome's abuse to refuse to see the whole of Scripture, to your own harm and I would hope for your good not your harm. I will not agree to disagree where it is this important for God's glory, my enjoyment of Him and your good.

And it is ironic that Presbys themselves have fallen into a sort of Independency mindset, since there is a boatload of "microdenominations" all claiming to adhere to the WCF (PCA, OPC, RPCNA, RPCGA, RPC, FPC, BPC, did I miss any?). Somebody must be fibbing, or there would be no division.
As regards Presbyterians; history is key and if you find the most accurate source, the fog clears considerably. Coming out of Rome, 31 years ago; the Lord saved me with the Scripture and a book that explained the gospel beginning in the Genesis and ending in Revelation. The Spirit taught me that sin hinders prayer. If I wanted to be heard, as a reconciled sinner, I needed a Savior. That's the condensed version of God's amazing love for this poor sinner. I was so ignorant I read the Bible like a book cover to cover. I'd always thought if you weren't Catholic you were Protestant. I had no idea.

In the Lord's prayer, we pray: Give us this day our daily bread and in so doing we acknowledge that even our best efforts are dependent on God's kind providence. Until, this God defying nation 'In God we Trust' defines their God by the Scriptures of both the Old & New Testaments; and the humbles themselves, prays and seeks His face and acknowledge they as a nation have taken the Name of the God in vain, and submit to His rightful Kingship and the Son at His exalted right hand our Mediator, who from heaven by the power of the Spirit, who is our Advocate with the Father, believes that we are under Him. The earth is His footstool must be made His subjects; God will continue to correct his people and punish his enemies according to the Scripture. Heb.12

Does an infant have the faculty to do these things?
I quote the only thing you said relative to the discussion of the subject(s) of baptism. The rest of your Scriptural reference to Israel and her children was not contented against, but your LBCF lens would argue that all our blessings pertain only to the things above (which I grant is our best and lasting interest). I, on the other hand, believe the nations to whom the gospel has come, as nations, have a greater privilege and accountability then heathen nations. This is relative to the news article.

Back to your question; I answer as much faculty as an adult; None. Example: John the Baptist in his mother womb. Baptism is a sign and seal of the Covenant and will be effectual in time for all the elect. Otherwise it identifies adults and children with the privilege of being in the Covenant Community of the people of God, in any nation now under the gospel. Hebrews 6 speaks to this subject. There was an excellent exposition of a text from this chapter on SA, by a RB discovered in his rewarded labors. But his lens left no application. I came to this SA sight looking for & to confirm, comfort and strengthen others, sadly the on going divisions have taken their toll on us.

It is a sad day when a Christian Institution has to define what is moral for a Christian Institution. They should know, and they whould not have to fear Civil contradiction. Now in some cases it is necessary to define or confess Church doctrine, but when that has been done, a statement of dos and don'ts shouldn't be necessary.

You say drunken on the doctrines of men, I say more hermeneutically sound, not looking at an isolated text to determine a doctrine of Scripture. Peters skeptics called those filled with the Spirit drunken. Just an observation. The Scripture that came to mind was Hebrews 11:1; Romans 8:24-39

I was in Africa for a Family Conference in 1998. Now I grant that was sometime ago, but at the time, I was amazed at the apparent contrast of openness to the Word of God compared with here in the West. Yes, there were the common struggles among believers to deal with; misunderstanding seemed to be the biggest problem, from preconceived ideas and assumption that got in the way unless guarded against. A gentle answer returned for offense would clear things up quickly, it was family in the church. There was a great hunger for truth among the young people and the foreigners not indigenous to that nation. They were very easy to engage in conversation and curious. Most knew English. The indigenous Churches clearly had a creativity for evangelism in meeting the needs of their country men. Being a foreigner I had the advantage of being different and interesting for that reason. There were so many orphans and young adults that were with siblings, and not their mother and father. These desired the opportunity to be with older folks and their respectful deportment was breath taking. I remember a 17 year old who was my instructor in cultural respect, to my own shame. I have pleasant memories of the warmth of his smile or the look of fear due to my cultural ignorance.

I read on the Lord's Day Mr. David Dickson's 'Truths Victory Over Error' Chapter XXI of Religious Worship and the Sabbath Day and he used this text you quote here. Speaking of the Papists images and the Greeks pictures and that both do err, he said in his second and fourth reason. "2. Because God is infinite, unmeasurable, incomprehensible, and spiritual and therefore nothing can represent Him. and 4. "Images and pictures are lies and vanities which the Lord abhors and mocks at with a holy scorn." and he quotes Isa. 44:9-18 Mr. Dickson agrees with you.

I found the link informative not being knowledgeable of the British News 31 years ago now. More recently I observed the same in pictures when the present US President went to visit the Vatican and exchange gifts, the first lady was dressed in a similar fashion.

I was however unsure of your Scripture reference, so I read it in context:
Exodus 12:25-27 "And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service. And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshiped.

It caused me to reflect of the plagues of Egypt and Rev. 11:8 "And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified." Consider all of Rev.16 and v.21 with Rev. 11:19. Timing of the vials?

This is the fruit of a broken covenant
that was at one time instrumental to bring together divided brethren. Representatives of their best pastors and teachers in England with the assistance of the Scottish commissioners came together and penned the WCF with much sober Scripture argument while civil sword's commanded they disband. They stated they were doing the Lord's business and not fearing the faces of men kept the charge given them of God and vowed to be accomplished in Christ's name. This was once so known and understood, but its glorious history has been buried by greed, or covetousness which is idolatry. Now it has been lost to the very nations that once gave their hands, as nations, to God. As the Scripture says and the Confession explains; the Lord's prayer given at the disciples request: Lord, Teach us to pray is a form for our own prayers. We pray, Thy kingdom come and in so doing we petition for gospel officers and ordinances, the purging of the Church from corruption, that she would be countenanced and maintained by the Civil magistrate, that the ordinances of Christ may be purely dispensed and made effectual to the converting of souls who are yet in their sin,'and' the confirming, comforting and building
up of those that are converted.

No one answered. I can share my opinion and if it is based on the veracity of the word of God then I have a second. Just as when a father gives his daughter freedom to vow in her espousal, approving her vows to a husband Numbers 30:3-5, Scripture states her vow shall stand; so shall the vows of any nation when they vow a vow, as the moral person of a nation in the person of Christ Joshua 24:15 Matt. 25:31-33 which would require representation of both the Church and Magistrate. These are of God's institution and the two separate institutions that compose the moral person together with those under their authority. Their vows shall stand. The National Covenant of Scotland and the Solemn League and Covenant of the 3 kingdoms stands and men's perfidy will not change the binding obligation upon their posterity. All Christians should adhere to the WCF, even though they have back-slidding from former attainments since their vows to God. Yet, their posterity are still bound. These are Jews with circumcised hearts and are the children of promise like Isaac and if circumcised in heart they keep covenant bonds Gal 3:29; Ephes.3:5-6; Romans 11:16-18; Rev.11:1-2

It is interesting to me, the division that Paul speaks to in1 Cor. 1-3 is about favoritism of one man over another. For example Apollos was eloquent in style, but Paul's preaching powerful and easy to be understood, he was all things to all men to win some. Theses were not doctrinal divisions with no remedy for hundreds of years, why? Why has that which has already been attained unto agreed upon and held to by oath and sealed by martyrs been lost?
