To all concerned in this debate, and just for your information, there are several sermons on this site dealing with the Christian response to alcohol. One that I think addresses the idea that Christ approved of alcohol either by personal use or by promoting its use for others (usually given by citing the marriage feast at Cana) can be found at -- Magherafelt Free Presbyterian Church Mr Chris Killen "The Christian and Alcohol". May the Lord bless it to your heart.
Part of the text used by Ms Andrews in her sermon used, it appears from this extract, to confuse rather than enlighten, comfort and exhort her audience reads "And being warned of God....they departed....". Is her own choice of text prophetic with regard to the current large exodus of people from PC-USA and similar organisations? Are those remaining a sad case of the blind being led by the blind?
Wake-Up Call Who could not give a hearty amen to Rev Patterson's opening sentence in this powerful message in this study series on 1st Samuel -- "Increasingly, we are seeing the wickedness of man so far as children are concerned"? The crimes against unborn, and innocent little children are well documented as the feminist and sodomite/pedophile community presses its "rights".
Many other points are covered in this opening sermon.
Great Sermon! Re-listening to this excellent sermon as an exposition of Romans 9 v 10-14 has served to remind me that "the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom" (Prov 9 v 10). As someone brought up to despise what is commonly known as 'Calvinism', I can only praise Him whose ways are past finding out, especially when regarding what now passes for Christian belief and practice in the liberal/Arminian churches. May this sermon be a source of comfort to all God's children.
In addition to the excellent posts of cbcpreacher and Lurker, may I add that we have the Lord's own statement "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" (Jn 6 v 37) For a sermon on assurance, you might try Rev Ian Brown "Do You Doubt Your Salvation?" on this site, text is Heb 6 v 18 - 20. May the Lord, the true anchor of the soul, bless you.
Hitherto Hath The LORD Helped Us Because of a personal and household interest in 1st Sam 7 v 12, I accessed this sermon. Rev Patterson's inspiring and encouraging exposition has greatly refreshed me and I intend to listen to the study series on Samuel of which this is but a part.
"If anyone understands Hegel, they are a better person than I am." I quite agree with your sentiments on this guy and his 'weltgeist' stuff. A past teacher (who was a marxist)also proudly informed me that Karl Marx claimed to have "stood Hegel on his head"...Go figure.... Yet the seeds of destruction bit could be true when you consider the fate of countries (and individuals) who adopted the marxist religion of materialist atheism....
Clear Exposition This is another clear exposition of Bible truth from Rev Brown.
Zimmerman and his followers appear to allege there is a dichotomy between belief in God's word and science, but this is not so. There is of course a very wide divergence between what they believe (evolution, including "theistic evolution") to be established scientific "fact" and the Bible, especially Genesis ch 1 to 11.
This message gives the lie to this false and godless system on several fronts. The system of evolution with its inherent racism and social degeneracy can here be seen to be in total opposition to God's word. Its assertion that humans are progressing upward morally and in every other way can only be seen as pathetically untrue. That certain "churches" can subscribe to this devilish drivel speaks volumes about the predictions in Scripture of the falling away in the last days. Proverbs 16 v 6.
SA is an excellent site with very many great features, especially of course the sermons. I do not, however, believe myself to be alone in viewing the "comments" section as something of an RC/Arminian forum to ridicule and abuse biblical Christian belief and Christian people. I have been told that some Arminian "pastors" get banned and yet reappear, to say nothing of the very long established anti Bible "preaching" of the RC's here. Will have to give an account for every idle word ?? Really ?? where does it say that ??
GG I see you're still here, and still spouting the "Irish American" version of history. I am a "native Irishman", also my wife and I have just returned to the US from spending the last seven months in Ireland. I can tell you that you and your ilk and your views have as much connection to the ordinary Irish people as Quetzalcoatl's snake, and are held in about the same regard. It is as Robert said, and Cindy on another thread, get out from the murderous lies of Rome!! May the Lord bless and enable you to do this.
