Wise wrote: The problem with the SBC is not some lack of theological training but what does the Bible say. For many years preachers have ignored or even denied the words predestination and foreknowledge existed or their true meaning. Or they contrived some doctrine based on Armiansim. We have denied the Holy Spirit in the work of Salvation. But they preach a "dead corspe" has the power to rise and make a choice for righteousness when the Bible say's we are "dead in our trespasses and sin. Nothing dead can rise on it's own. This started with Bill Graham and reached a plateau with Saddleback Church. Probably the most clear expository preaching I have heard is Al Martin's sermons on the "Whom so ever will" teachings. Lastly read A.W. Pink and you can see these doctrines in the Bible he makes them clear without any persuasion. God Bless you Your comment is exactly what I believe the Word of God teaches. |

Jim Lincoln wrote: One can question the worthiness of giving Bibles to children who can't comprehend well enough without the aid of their parents. Now, if the children were told to take the Bibles home and have their parents read it, now that would be most acceptable. Christianity can't be forced on people, what if people were giving your children a copy of the Koran? I think you would have the right to be upset. Amen!; People will have to have God- given wisdom to understand your comment. I, for one, would not want false cults and religions forced on my grandchildren at school. Christian parents need to teach and read God's Holy Word to their children and take them to a Sovereign Grace church. This is the parent's responsibility, not the secular school system. |

checkitout wrote: JD, If water baptism were necessary to receive the Holy Ghost, then how do you explain the thief on the cross? Personally, I know the moment I was broken and cried out to God, I received His forgiveness, and was sealed with His Holy Spirit. I know this because my life drastically changed, my thinking changed, all at that very moment of brokenness. My water baptism came several months later. The thief received no water baptism at all, and many do not. Those who repent on their deathbed and believe receive the same reward as those who have been baptized and walked with the Lord for 50 years. God bless you, I agree and also can remember the moment I was broken and changed.Only the elect will understand your precious comment. We must not trust in anything other than the Lord Jesus Christ. This is not difficult for a true Christian to understand because we have the precious Holy Spirit who teaches us the Word. We would and could not understand without Him, our God.... |
