Expositor, I find it interesting to see verses like Ps. 51:5 and 139:13-16 in light of the fact that the Jewish culture did not consider a human life to begin until birth (at least half way out of the mother). Why would a good Jew pen these words if he knew that it went against his culture? Because God is the Author of Scripture, not man. You are right in that man is a soul and possesses a body, but the body has life from the moment of conception because it grows and moves. Adam would have done neither if God had not breathed into him. Therefore, because the activities of life are there, it must be alive. Hence, life begins at conception. You asked about a funeral. David said God knew him in the womb. If David had died in the womb, does that mean that God ceased to know him then? If David had died in the womb, would he be in Heaven today? Forget about the funeral, what about eternal life? Why is a baby called stillborn if it DIES in the womb? Because the child had LIFE!!!

Akol, are you going to go through all of the surveys and post the doctrine of election? We have been through this over and over again. I don't know if there are really to many people who want to go there because it always gets nasty (on both sides).

Once again I repeat those famous words, "This shouldn't surprise us". The Bible says that in the last days sin will get worse. "As in the days of Noah" applies to us today. America is on a slippery slope to hell and the descent is getting faster by the hour. Christians, we had better be ready because not only will sin become more blatant and accepted, but our biblical brand of morality will begin to cost us. Instead of sodomites and pedophiles be protected by law, but christians will become the criminals. Mark my words, we are very close (next 5 years) to seeing this become a reality UNLESS God chooses to intervene and send an undeserved, but very needed move of His Spirit. Pray, believers, pray!

I think meetings like the Franklin Graham Crusade coming up here in NY are exactly the kinds of meetings that people mistake for revivals. He will come in with his popular entertainers and musicians and stir people's emotions to get them to walk an aisle, but how many will really dedicate their lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ? Of course, this kind of meeting will never stop because to many pastors are just looking to increase their own attendance, and what better way than a Graham crusade. If pastors would preach the truth of what it means to be a follower of Christ and that we are to separate from RCC loving Balaams, we could put these guys out of business, but don't count on it!

It's funny you should mention that, Wayne. In June, Billy's son, Franklin, is holding a crusade about 45 minutes from where I pastor. Our church has been invited to be a part of this crusade. I told the deacons that I, as a pastor, could not participate, and we decided as a church to not be involved. A number of people from our church, and the community, feel that we are wrong in this. However, we will choose to obey God's Word and believe God for His blessing. I find it amazing that a born again believer thinks that it is ok to do outreach with the heretical RCC all in the name of Jesus. The problem is, it's another Jesus that they preach. God help us to stand against the compromise of our day!

Michael Hranek, once again you have faced the issue head on. I remember a couple of years back when a good friend of mine who was the town drunk came to Christ and started attending the church I pastor. It was extremely difficult for some of the people in the church to accept because evn though he came to Christ, it didn't change the way he smelled, or dressed, or even talked right away. He died about a year later and I had the privilege of conducting his homegoing service (funeral). I think this was one of the best experiences this church ever went through. Since then, we have become a church that welcomes these folks with open arms, and we have seen a number of them come to Christ! We didn't make them good Baptists first. We showed them the love of Christ as well as their sin. I wouldn't have it any other way!

Michael Hranek, unfortunately, there are many people still sitting in our fundamentalist, separatist churches whom would be matter than a bald-headed hippy about us criticizing (or exposing) Billy Graham. He is seen as an untouchable, and some have exalted him above the Lord Jesus and His Word. We should learn, never put a man on a pedastal because when he falls, he often takes many with him.

Not only did he sell out politically, but maybe worse, he got in bed with the RCC harlot and has been helping to reproduce illegitimate children every since

Yamil, the issue, at least as I have seen it, is that those who oppose revival are speaking of a world wide revival. I think, and I may be wrong, that they would agree that God will revive individuals and maybe even individual churches. However, when it comes to mass revival, they just don't buy it. I can understand their view from a human perspective. Not only the world, but much of the "church" seems to be beyond hope. I believe that is when God works best! If we will be humble and contrite, as your verse brought out, God will look upon us because the Bible also tells us that these are the sacrifices God desires (Psalm 51:17). Am I praying for revival? Yes! But I want God to begin in my own life first!

Great! Bearer posts one time today, and I missed it! Thank you though to some of you who gave insightful and helpful thoughts. Again, how easy it is to go from an edifying discussion to name calling and worldliness. We are supposed to use our sword against the enemy, not one another if we are brothers and sisters in Christ. Let's try to keep it civil.

David, first of all, thank you for the vote of confidence. I know all to well that if it were not for the grace of God, I would probably be like this Moses. It is very easy to get caught up in the heat of a discussion and to forget that we are not representing ourselves or our particular churc, we are representing the Lord Jesus Christ. I want Him to be seen in what I write. Thanks again David. I agree with your post 100%. Also, your not a wimp, sissy, or pansy either. I would consider you, as well as many others on SA, a mighty man of valor.

Yamil, Wayne, I guess that would be my position as well. I also believe it is the best translation we have. One translation I despise is the NIV. I call it the "Non Inspired Version"

Lance, Lance, Lance... You continue to fallacy. Can I tell you, the RCC isn't christianity. Neither are Baptists (of which I am), nor Methodist, nor any other denomination. We are all churches that represent what we believe christianity teaches, but christianity is Jesus Christ and Him crucified (only once by the way, the RCC misses this point). Christianity is salvation by grace through faith (not works as the RCC teaches). And we are sanctified by God's Spirit as He uses His Word (not by the church as we participate in various works of the church and look forward to purgatory). If you wanted to compare churches in regard to how closely they teach the truths of christianity, the RCC falls VERY low on the scale.

Wayne, I know this is probably for another thread, but since you brought it up, are you KJV-only? I don't have a problem with it if you are, just curious.

Shouldn't your name be anti-tv man? You do bring out a lot of very good points, and I for one will agree with what you have to say. Let's pray that we would all wake up to these dangers, but also the sins of gossip, slander, backbiting, self righteousness, and all of those other sins that are so easy to hide. I can throw ouot my tv, but if I still have roast preacher for lunch every Sunday, has it really done me any good? By the way, tv man, I am not accusing you of any of those things. I was just adding a few thoughts.

Actually, it stands for Calvary Baptist Church. I preach from the KJV, although I am not KJV-only. Having said that, I do prefer it above all others and encourage my people to use it not only for study, but also for reading. We are associated with the General Association of Regular Baptists which have biblical separation as one of their key doctrines. Unfortunately, some are beginning to stray from that truth (I may be setting myself up for some attacks from those who think that is what I am doing). And just so you know, I don't like community churches because usually they don't stand for much of anything.

Seaton, I have to add "It is your churches hate for Calvinism and it's adherents that you post and believe" as the same attitude that those from the Calvinist camp have shown not only toward those who disagree with them theologically, but toward me as a fellow Calvinist who has chosen not to take that same attitude. How often we should look in the mirror at our own countenance before trying to comb the hair of a fellow believer. If we could all discuss this, and other issues, with less hatred, I think we would all be further ahead.

Yamil, notice that I wrote "This same thing was said of Yamil". I didn't say that I agreed with it, but some have said it. I actually enjoy your quick wit and also your insightful thoughts. I meant nothing, I was only making an observation.
