I'll grant that Obama is a spineless fraud but that was an unkind sexist comment bro. If you take most of the sisters here as an example, they do not bend with the times. You insinuating that they're in touch with their male side, which would be the corollary?

More on ]]Consistent Literal Interpretation by George Zeller
Problem is that those principles are now stated to justify a form of unbelieving rationalism.

Question: How did Paul derive the following using those principles?

Galatians 4:22 For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a free woman.

23 But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the free woman was by promise.

24 Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

25 For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

26 But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Would anyone have derived this from reading the OT passage and if not why not? Faulty man made exegetical rules perhaps, like crude literalism?

Any more interesting bible studies there brother?...
Kev

Let the bible be its own commentary and you will not go wrong. Compare scripture with scripture, spiritual things with spiritual. Once you get into the habit of doing this, you will be amazed at what you discover.

As a minor example consider John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

Now just think about this. We have plenty of appearances of the Lord in the OT, in the garden of Eden, to Abraham etc. So what does John 1.18 teach us? Which person of the Godhead appeared in the OT?

Of course this method of study requires more and more knowledge of the Bible so that one can compare more to learn more. But ain't that a great thing for someone who loves to study the Bible?

By all means use other books to help you get at the meaning of obscure verses etc. but don't let other books become a preoccupation. Read the Bible prayerfully in the method described and expect the Lord to open your eyes to the great stores of knowledge and wisdom. Let the word search your heart and sift you. Let it mould you and your thinking. Meditate on it every available moment and try and memorize

OOS

Revelation 2 and the words to the church at Pergamos

14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.

15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitanes, which thing I hate.

16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.

Why didn't the Lord just say to them, just ignore the unscriptural errors and stick with those things which are scriptural?

Does the Lord really hate the doctrine of Balaam and of the Nicolaitanes, or was he doing a BIlly Graham viz. uttering stuff that really he couldn't possibly have meant?

a remnant is saved. I follow book of Romans, not fiction writers and felon Scofield.
Scofield divides what God has joined together. The Jews and Gentiles are unified in Christ's covenant. Gentiles have been grafted in, not all but the remnant.
Romans makes it clear that neither group have room to boast.
Good post sister penned

Some see a hope for the Jews apart from the Church, whose head is Christ, but they cannot find any such hope in the NT which is why they scurry to the shadows of OT prophecy and scramble around mincing God's word to fit their theology.

I really do trust entirely in Jesus alone for salvation.
No you don't. You know how I know? Because you refuse to obey the following:

2 Cor 6

4 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

Remember what the Lord Jesus said:

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

What about the commandment to separate from unbelievers, from false doctrine, from everything that is inconsistent with the Christian profession?

1John 2.3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments!!

Conclusion - you don't obey hence you don't know him!!

...Can someone fill me in on what is going on here? I mean all these arrows at john seem pretty nasty but I don't know what is going on.
I would just add to what Rodney has already posted:

1. John Yurich is not his real name
2. John's ticket to heaven is his mental assent to the doctrine of salvation as though that is all that is required. Hence the reason he keeps parroting about justification by faith even though he hasn't a clue what that doctrine is about, as should be obvious from his response.
3. John doesn't believe that obedience is all that important. The initial act of assent by responding to an altar call is his sole hope.
4. He could be associated with any church, but he chooses to remain in the RCC and calls himself a Catholic.
5. He has been on this board for very many years and been counselled, exhorted, reasoned with by innumerable people but all in vain. Which is why, most now consider him an RCC troll.
6. No one is against JY and no one views him as their enemy. He has been and continues to be the subject of prayer. BUT, as things stand he is deluded, and is encouraged in his delusion and in his stance by the other RCC troll SteveR.

I hope this helps.

What a great world you live in where everyone you want to believe cannot get anything wrong but those who point to the bible and show you directly where you or they are wrong MUST be wrong by default!

As I said, don't bother responding. I can't read any more of your tiring trash.

2 Tim 3 sums you up quite well:

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be LOVERS OF THEIR OWN SELVES, covetous, boasters, PROUD, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, UNHOLY,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, FALSE ACCUSERS, INCONTINENT, FIERCE, DESPISERS OF THOSE THAT ARE GOOD,

4 Traitors, heady, HIGHMINDED, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

So in obedience, turning away from such.

Well the fact that Graham in every Crusade has preached the biblical doctrine of salvation that salvation comes only through embracing Jesus as Savior and trusting entirely in Him alone for salvation means that what Cloud wrote about Graham's beliefs is a lie. I am Born Again because I embraced Jesus as Savior and I trust entirely in Him alone for salvation.
In the excerpts I posted up Cloud didn't mention a single word about Graham's preaching. The article was about Graham's compromise with with Romanism, Modernism etc.

So what lies did Cloud write?

Bro Kev posted up a link to a video where Graham in his own words confirms his departure from the faith by accepting Romanists and Mormons as genuine Christians. How bad does it have to get before one recognizes him as a false prophet?

Justification by faith means to put ones trust entirely in Jesus alone for salvation and not to trust in anything else for salvation. Church attendance in any church including an Evangelical Church is not required for salvation. I trust entirely in Jesus alone for salvation. And thus I am saved according to the Bible and Baptist teaching. I have an Independent Baptist friend who states that because I trust entirely in Jesus alone for salvation that I am saved irrespective if I don't attend an Evangelical Church.
WRONG!!

But go knock yourself out thinking all's well.
