I'll bet if you took a scientific survey you would find that few or no unmarried teenagers in the history of earth have ever engaged in sexual activity while listening to Gadsby's Hymns or the Metrical Psalms.

I'll also bet that if you took a scientific survey of unmarried Christian teens you would find a huge percentage of them who DID engage in sexual activity and many who became pregnant while using DC Talk, Steven Curtis Chapman, Amy Grant, Newsboys, Third Day, Michael W. Smith, etc. as their background music.

Think about this: They don't play 'How Firm A Foundation' in bars, whorehouses or at wild parties. Sadly, though, churches now are FILLED with worldly, sensuous music. Hence, worldly, apostate churches. I don't need a scientific survey to observe that.

There are plenty. He's spawned many little James Dobsons in the form of other religious (I won't call them Christian) psycho-babblers. Their self-esteem based, me-first nonsense has radically harmed American churches and their families so badly that I doubt if they will ever recover until Jesus comes back.

James Dobson's mixture of feminized, semi-Biblical truth and humanistic psychology has wreaked havoc on the church in general and Christian families in particular for far too long. Good riddance.

I agree. The problem is that theologians are often not really Christians. Sometimes there is nothing more dangerous than a 'theologian'.

If I had to sit and listen to Robert Schuller lisp through a sermon I would want to shoot myself, too.

I feel that public (government) schools are no place for children from Christian families. Ever. They should be taught at home or in church run schools. It is 100% the parent's responsibility.

"It's interesting to note that those who hold dear their KJV bible and condemn the science of textual criticism have never taken studied NT Greek or read up on textual criticism. Unfortunately, this is a continuation of the blindness of traditionalism and a result of American intillectualism (IMHO)."

First, none of that is true. I know many, many fine folks who adhere to the KJV who have indeed studied NT Greek and clearly understand the "science" (falsely so-called) of textual criticism. This "science" attempts to place man's flawed logic ahead of the logic of faith. Also, most of the men teaching NT Greek today were taught that the Nestle Aland text is best by whoever taught them so that's what they teach others. This is what James White would call 'circular reasoning'. Tradition, if you will.

Second, believe it or not, there are many of us who do not adhere to the blindness of traditionalism but rather believe that God has preserved His Word for us IN SPITE of the flawed logic of the aforementioned "science" of modern textual critics. After looking at both sides of the matter, many just believe that the traditional text is best.

Third, Frenchie, in spite of your intellectual superiority, you misspelled intellectualism.

I am very happy to see that Doyle B. Cooper is alive and (hopefully) well!

And I agree 100% with Neil's last comment.

The Churches of Christ here in the Atlanta area have a school like this now.

Some of the finest preachers & pastors I've known had no seminary training. In fact, I know few seminary grads who don't come out of school doubting God's Word in one area or another.

Maybe a bivocational pastor is a good idea. I've known some good ones.

Or maybe the Primitive Baptists have it right with no paid preachers.

If the Trinitarian Bible Society is involved, I can assure you that they are using the KJV exclusively.

The fact is that the Democrats and the Republicans are both determined to take us in the same direction. The Dems are just doing it at a much faster pace.

I can only speak from my personal experience. I have known a lot of people who attended some type of RC school and every single one of them has a skewed view of Biblical Christianity. Many of them have no use for God at all. Some of them are still committed RCs but in my mind, that's no better than being a complete pagan.

I'm sure that not everyone who's ever attended RC schools shares the same experiences. I can only speak for the ones I've known and they are many.

It's funny that John Yurich should mention RC schools. I was talking to someone yesterday about how EVERYONE I have ever known who grew up attending a RC school has an utter contempt for anything Biblical and a strange disdain for authority. All of them seem to have horror stories about their experiences there and it works to turn them totally away from Christ. I have always wondered what goes on there that creates such attitudes.

In my opinion, at least here in the U.S., for a Christian parent to send their child into a government school is child abuse. No child from a real Christian home should be in a government school.

So was Lot.

As long as society in general and Christians in particular keep pandering to them, it's going to get a lot worse.

I would do exactly what Ron Heather is doing if I were in his shoes. I also would refuse to even ride a bus with an ad like that on it.

This is from the Jan-Mar 2009 issue of The Quarterly Record, the Trinitarian Bible Society's magazine in response to the bus ads:

"At its last meeting the General Committee of the Society agreed to spend £35,000 on a poster campaign on the buses in London to display the text, ‘The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God’. On each of the posters will be the offer of free copies of the Bible from the Society."

I love the Trinitarian Bible Society. They are like an oasis of Biblical sanity in an ocean of worldy and religious madness. I would encourage everyone to support them.

They are a victim of themselves for sure but from my experience it's due to their horrible customer service.

The last few times I've gone in there I've been unable to find anyone to help me. The 'salespeople' are always standing around talking to each other. The last time I was there a year or so ago I mentioned to one of the sales guys that their TV prices were a good bit higher than their competitiors' and he said, "Not my fault. I didn't price them". That was it for me.

Pretty much the same thing has happened at Home Depot and Dell. Try buying a Dell PC from them over the phone. They are really awful and do not seem to care.
