Sermon:
How should Christians address atheists?
Rev David Silversides
1
comment
“ Great Sermon! ”
Never forget: Atheists do not have any real intellectual objections to the existence of God. They are not atheists because they are reasonable, but because they are sinful. It is their hearts which must be addressed, not their intellectual objections. This should come as a huge relief to the Christian because it's not necessary to learn how to counter every argument an atheist may have against Christianity. It is only necessary to know the Gospel, and to be willing to confront the atheist, in humility and meekness, with the truth about the condition of his heart, his destiny as an unbeliever, and the wonder of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

“ Outstanding Sermon! ”
In the United States, many conservative Christians take a strict constructionist position in regard to the U.S. Constitution. That is, they understand the Constitution to mean what the framers of the document understood it to mean, as discovered by their own commentary upon the document, in opposition to the claims of many today who consider it a "living document" whose meaning changes from generation to generation. But what about the Bible? Does it not mean what its inspired authors understood it to mean, as well? In our day, we understand the words "hymns and songs" in "psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16)" to refer to the uninspired compositions of men. But is that what the Apostle meant when he wrote those words in Greek? Could it be that we are sinning when we sing uninspired compositions in the worship of God? By comparing scripture with scripture, this sermon gives a clear explanation of the meaning of these words, as the Apostle understood them, and as the Church understood them for many centuries before uninspired compositions were introduced into Christian worship. To refuse to seek the truth in this matter is sinful, but God will bless all those who seek for and practice His truth.

Sermon:
A Model Marriage
Rev. Ian Goligher

comment
“ Excellent Sermon! ”
We would highly recommend this sermon for any married couple, and especially for newlyweds and engaged couples. As for us, we've been married almost twenty-five years, and this sermon has prompted us to renew our focus on reflecting the love between Christ and His church in our marriage, which is something we had lost sight of in the round of daily responsibilities. It's been a long time since we reflected on that important principle, and we are very thankful for the reminder!

God's Power for Family Living
Rev. Ian Goligher

“ Great Sermon! ”
The emphasis of this sermon is not on roles, rules, resolutions, or logical arguments designed to convince spouses to change harmful behaviors, but rather on the necessity of the Holy Spirit's power to renew and dwell within the hearts of husbands and wives, thereby effecting happy changes in the homes of Christian families!

We appreciated the emphasis on the authority of the Word of God as the basis for a happy Christian home. When both husband and wife read the Bible and willingly submit themselves to its teaching, the result is unity, holiness and happiness!

Sermon:
Gaining Christ
Gavin Beers

comment
“ Excellent Gospel Sermon! ”
What is keeping you from believing on the Lord Jesus? Perhaps you are trusting in your Christian heritage and good works. Perhaps you fear being rejected by family and friends. Or, maybe there is something you are holding onto, something you don't want to give up. Whatever it may be, is it really of more value than Jesus Christ, who freely offers His glorious self to you in the Gospel? Is it more valuable than your soul, and an eternity of joy in Heaven? Whatever it is, count it but loss and dung, and put all your trust for your soul's salvation in Jesus Christ alone, that you may gain Him and His righteousness forever!

“ Great Sermon! ”
When faced with the insanely wicked world of our day, one may be tempted to run for the hills and live out one's life in peaceful isolation! But our Lord calls us to shine as lights in the world for Him, and earnestly endeavor the salvation of those who are still a part of this lost and dying world. Although it may seem overwhelmingly difficult to be "in the world but not of the world," Jesus promises us grace for the task, and he is able to not only preserve us from evil, but also to make our candle of Gospel light burn ever so brightly, that men may glorify our Father in Heaven!
