Matthew I Wall said

" No, I do not fast. I have in the past until I realized what Jesus said about it. Matthew 9:14-17 John the B's disciples asked why Jesus' disciples do not fast and Jesus replied, "Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast." The bridegroom was taken from them for three days and during that time they fasted, but then he rose from the grave and lives even today. Why fast? He is alive. We need not mourn any further."
_____

Not many people fast any more. In Matt 6:16, Jesus said, "when you fast…". Paul fasted often (2 Cor 6:5; 2 Cor 11:27). Fasting humbles us, brings our flesh into subjection to the Spirit, and increases ability to pray with faith. In addition, it makes us more thankful for our blessings. Hungering and thirsting after righteousness (literally) brings blessings from our Father. We should mourn over the lost souls of humanity.

Promoting and standing for the Word of God is not establishing our own righteousness. People in adulterous marriages try to force their lifestyle on others just like the homosexuals do.

"Abigail teaches: "God can't save you unless you let him, it is your choice."
THE BIBLE TEACHES: 'So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy...Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth.' (Romans 9:16, 18).
_____

Joh 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Those born of the Spirit are born of the will of God and not of the will of man—for man cannot will himself to be born of the Spirit—being born of the Spirit is an act of God. However, man can yield to the Spirit or spurn the Spirit by rejection.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2Co 5:17)

"…What are your thoughts about the situation where a Christian forgives their unfaithful spouse but the unfaithful spouse rejects that forgiveness, divorces the faithful partner, marries their lover, has children with the new spouse, etc. Keep in mind that the faithful spouse did not desire or pursue a divorce. What is the faithful spouse guilty of, if anything?"
______

When love grows cold in a marriage, is there an innocent party? Who knows the conflict and quarrels that have transpired behind closed doors? The faithful spouse can claim innocence simply because he/she did not pursue a divorce?

God's Word holds true regardless of circumstances. We can make all sorts of scenarios that would seem to be logical reasons to disobey God's Word.

If the faithful spouse remarries, he/she is guilty of breaking God's commandment and of causing his/her new mate(?) to commit adultery.

Remarriage promotes remarriage in others and defies God's monogamous laws. Do what feels good and tell God you are sorry. Teach children to do the same by your example.

The cycle is never ending because people do not want to be accountable for Godly character.

Name Rick Warren's good works.

Besides being a member of the CFR, and using the ultra modern translations of the Bible that pervert the Word of God, he has written books that have helped corrupt many "Christians". He has established a large megachurch getting rich off the people, and enticed other preachers to follow his methods--making the sale of his books soar--all for the love fame and money.

Good works??

"2Co 6:16 .... for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, 18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

This relationship was lost by Adam and is restored through the sacrifice of Christ, that washes sin away, and by his Spirit.

It is effective for all in the world who will believe the gospel! Ye must be born again of the Spirit! Let him that heareth come!"

"Those who reject original sin, salvation by the free gift of grace alone, through Christ's works alone and speak in tongues to dazzle the audiences have little knowledge of Christ crucified, and the Scriptures alone.
_____

The works of righteousness that Jesus Christ did 2000 years ago avail nothing for those who call themselves by His Name if they do not follow in his footsteps. The free gift of grace enables the believer to divest himself of his fleshly nature and adorn the likeness of our blessed Lord and Savior. Original sin is the transgression of our first parents by which their progeny inherited evil pride that stripped them of fellowship with the Father. Satan's pride is the evil that pervades all humanity, blinding them to their true nature, bringing them into bondage of deceit and lies, the end of which is eternal death [hell].

"Qaton Chozeh,
As they boast about their salvation by works, I can only say Christ will set them absolutely straight:
"That no flesh should glory in his presence." (1Cor.1:29)
_____

No. We are not boasting of our salvation by works. Our faith is in Christ Jesus our Lord who leads and guides in all truth by the Holy Ghost. We are followers of the Lamb, giving our lives a living sacrifice unto Him because He gave Himself a living sacrifice for us. We love Him because He first loved us while we were yet in our sins. All works of righteousness are done by following the leading of the Holy Spirit; the author and finisher of our faith works in us both to will and to do. We called on Him and He in no wise cast us out, but lovingly drew us unto Himself by His Spirit and washed us in His own blood and made us sons and daughters of the Lord God Almighty.

Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. (2Co 7:1)

"A truly poor state to be in: wicked, wrong about one's own nature and ability, and attempting to steal from the glory of God. Truly they cannot say with us, "let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified," for they must stop the continuity and proclaim a portion of the magnification for their wisdom and righteous decision."
____

No. True Christians don't take credit for our salvation. God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, is worthy of all glory, honor, and praise. Our righteousness and wisdom comes from Him through the Holy Ghost that He has so graciously given to those who repent and turn to Him with their whole hearts. He is the author and finisher of our faith; it is He who works in us both to will and to do; He dwells in our hearts by the Holy Ghost and leads and guides in all truth. He leads us in paths of righteousness for His Namesake. He will never leave us nor forsake us, He is with us to the end of the world. He called us and chose us while we were yet in sin, and cleansed us by His holy atoning blood and gave us New Life in Him. He has implanted His laws in our hearts that give us desire to obey and please Him even unto martyrdom or death. Our will is that we may be conformed to His Son Jesus Christ and that His wi

Jesus Christ ministered to the House of Israel; Paul ministered to the Romans, Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, Thessalonians, Timothy, Titus, and Philemon, and possibly Hebrews; James ministered to the twelve Tribes that are scattered abroad; Peter ministered to the scattered strangers throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia; John ministered to Christians.

How foolish for 'Christians' of today to separate the ministries of the Apostles and of Christ and delegate them to separate individuals, as if we all have a different Gospel.

All of these ministries are to all Christians, although they were addressed to certain specific groups. All Christians are to be in unity and are taught the same thing.

2 Ti 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17 That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

Such a statement of faith is meaningless, almost everybody claims to believe the Bible.
Many people claim to believe the Bible but their deeds prove that they do not! If they believed the Bible they would repent and turn to the Lord our God with all their hearts. Instead, they walk in their own pernicious ways on the broadway that leads to destruction. Because there are liars does not change the position of the Christian.

The Statement of Faith that states we believe the Bible, the complete holy word of God, is the only perfect statement of faith.

"Abigail's version of "Sovereign"
Is apparently not quite complete *IMPERFECT* sovereignty? Partial sovereignty ONLY.
_____

Imperfect sovereignty? Kings of earthly domains are sovereign—they make the laws and rules—their subjects are required to obey and if they do not, the king's laws demand punishment. Yet, the subjects are not totally deprived of free will.

Obedience or disobedience to God's laws is free will actions. God has not stripped humanity of his will; his will must be brought into alignment with the will of God.

God's laws were perfectly taught by Jesus Christ. His exemplary life coupled with His words teach us to love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Violation of this is sin.

Jesus not only taught perfect love to His followers, but He gave us His Spirit, the Holy Ghost, to accomplish righteousness in our lives. The Holy Ghost is Christ indwelling the saints.

If we fail to obey without repentance, His laws demand punishment in hell.

1Jo 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1Jo 2:29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

The article states:
"In the trendy Soho Grand Hotel, for example, Bibles have never been offered in guest rooms because “society evolves,” explained hotel spokeswoman Lori DeBlois to Newsweek. A Bible in guest rooms would force the hotel “to take care of every guest’s belief.”

“So it turns out that the real story is not just the absence of the Bible in many hotel rooms, but the presence of very different materials, from complimentary condoms to erotic dice games,” Mohler noted. “That does help to explain things.”

No they are not. He got 1 out of 4 correct. Faith is not the gift of God and I will gives 2 weeks for anyone to find scripture that supports that. Man is not totally depraved to the point of being unable to believe the gospel when he hears it. God does not describe himself as sovereign, But men ARE regenerated by the Spirit. One out of four. Pretty good for Westy!
On believing in Jn 3:16. The tense does not change anything about the promise and it does not make the word world to mean elect."
_____

God is Sovereign—He has total and final control of all events. Otherwise, prayer with faith could serve no purpose or could effect no change. He has given limited authority to Satan and to humanity, but that does not change His sovereignty.

Humanity is depraved—not in the sense that he cannot call upon the Lord for salvation—but humanity without Jesus Christ is totally depraved and needs a Savior. Total depravity is the reason for the condition of the world with all the atrocities inflicted upon humanity by humanity.

All things come from God—our very breath—our being—is a gift of God. He has given humanity an innate conscience to know there is a God and He has provided faith to call upon God for mercy and salvation. Increase in faith comes with exercising faith.
