Abort a child to reduce the carbon footprint? Yes.
Stop long haul holidays to reduce the carbon footprint? Why No! That would infringe upon their lifestyle.
Sickening hypocrisy.

"I've never doubted that I made the right decision. Ed and I married in September 2002, and have a much nicer lifestyle as a result of not having children.

"We love walking and hiking, and we often go away for weekends.

"Every year, we also take a nice holiday - we've just come back from South Africa.

"We feel we can have one long-haul flight a year, as we are vegan and childless, thereby greatly reducing our carbon footprint and combating over-population. "

and another person
""I'd never dream of preaching to others about having a family. It's a very personal choice. What I do like to do is make people aware of the facts. " - Yes, by orchestrating national newspaper articles through spin doctors? And they tell us they are not "preaching"?

Evil and twisted as it is, it sounds like this woman is inventing and backdating a self-justification for her wicked act 10 years ago.

People simply weren't talking about "carbon footprints" 10 years ago.
Guilty conscience at work.

May God be pleased to work by His Spirit of grace through that conscience to the saving of her soul.

Lance Eccles wrote:
Michael, I'm not that strong on history either, but I believe what got John Huss into trouble was his insistence that at Mass the faithful should receive the Blood of Christ in the form of wine, even though Christ is fully present under the form of bread.
And people can indeed be led astray by false interpretation of Scripture. Scripture is not always easy to interpret, and the individual can easily go astray in reading it unguided.
Lance,

I think you illustrated your point very well. One of your most significant postings in all your years on sermonaudio.

Re: integrity

33k wrote:
The scriptures lay down specific qualifications, all of which must be met. Pre-eminently, before we even consider soundness of doctrine, ability to teach, etc (which we must in turn look at) we must look at personal godliness.

I hate the double-minded,
But I love Your law.
You are my hiding place and my shield;
I hope in Your word.
Depart from me, you evildoers,
For I will keep the commandments of my God!
Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live;
And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.
Hold me up, and I shall be safe,
And I shall observe Your statutes continually.
You reject all those who stray from Your statutes,
For their deceit is falsehood.
You put away all the wicked of the earth like dross;
Therefore I love Your testimonies.
My flesh trembles for fear of You,
And I am afraid of Your judgments.

Forgive me the interruption but surely Jim someone could hang around with Christians at *IHCC* all their life and still not be a Christian?

I still would prefer an Anglo-Catholic before a Roman-Catholic to be in a government position. At least he would be more committed to his country than to the pope.
Personally, I disagree.
Better a spade that calls itself a spade, than a trojan horse masquerading as something they are not.

Indeed Dessie.

"They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet."

May God be pleased to open the eyes of many born blind in that land, including in its government.

Shocker!

Yep, no surprise at all ... it's been coming for years, as we saw from all of the other spin-doctor orchestrated stories.

Sainthood may well follow of course.

Luke wrote:
Friends,
I'm sorry to say that I don't see good attitudes in many of these posts. We need to be careful about giving in to arogance or overly-critical statements.
It is true that China just "refuted" this "false report" this morning, November 8, on their online Hong-Kong based online newspaper. Why not to be a little more patient next time...?
Luke
"Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil. "

I do find public displays of false statements by WND contemptible.

China's government is wicked - it should be prayed for and opposed righteously and NOT with false accusations.

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. "

We needed a THINK TANK to tell us this??!!
Proof once again that evil begets
stupidity.
Equally amazing is the notion that we needed a published report from said think tank to know what said think tank would think on this issue. Is the Pope a Catholic?

Will they bring back Whitsuntide? Hardly.

Oh really WND? Great headline but ....

The Chinese government are not this stupid. How do you think they managed to get this far and actually win the hosting of the Olympics? By being very politically astute and very smart (and also having a huge reserve of weakened US dollars).

Would it make sense for them to bend over backwards and allow ALL other foreigners to bring in a Bible and then publicly ban high profile athletes from having a Bible?

Note that the story came via the ever reliable "Catholic News Agency" who added their own editorial comment for protestant consumption - that "any kind of religious symbol" means a Bible - despite the glaring and obvious inconsistency this causes.

The real issue is the persecution of the church in China and the distribution of Bibles in China - not whether Nellie No Mark can pack her crucifix and rosary with her where ever she goes. (To be fair to WND they do actually now touch on the more pertinent issues further down the article.)

WND - A "Smarter than a 5th Grader" Free Press

Thank you Sermonaudio for consistently selecting the most absurd items for us from the plethora of stories on WND.

Southern Baptist Pastor wrote:
marriage is an ordinance of the Church, not the state,
Not so. Christian Church marriage is a "subset" of marriage found in all nations and all cultures since the Creation ordinance was established.
But yes, God at Creation and in his Bible defined who may be married.

God in the Bible wrote:
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled
2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith 1689 wrote:
It is lawful for all sorts of people to marry, who are able with judgment to give their consent; yet it is the duty of Christians to marry in the Lord

This issue is actually nothing new for non-conformists and for Protestants. It's happened many times in history.
(It even happened to a Roman Catholic
queen once under Henry VIII and his band of merry men.)

Rome is very good at annulments to this day even after 30, 40 years of marriage or more.

We are commanded in the Bible to obey the law of the land.
If the very existence of IRS is a bold violation of the Law of the Land - the Constitution, and their income tax is also illegal, why would you disobey the law by paying it?
You may rest assured that I don't disobey the law by paying taxes to the IRS but I thank you for your concern.

It may very well be that it is no coincidence that much of southern california is on fire but the scriptures tell us

"For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?"
