I didn't know how deadly influenza could be until I worked for a pharmaceutical company which provided doses of the vaccine to doctors. I say provided because there wasn't much if any profit and only a few companies even tackled providing it. I serviced the doctors with our brand.

My district manager told me about the epidemic of 1918 where more people died than died in WWI - about 50 m worldwide. The thing was healthy young people seemed to be hit hard. You'd think their immune system would fight off the infection, but, not so. One could be well in the morning and dead in the afternoon. The medical community, as well as the government, has always known that a deadly strain like the 1918 strain would surface again. It was just a matter of time. Interestingly, the epidemic of 1918 was not taught as history in the schools. We think of the flu as nothing really serious, but it can be deadly. This may not be the one that has been anticipated for nearly a century, but it's just a matter of time.

Prince Charles,

I just met the owners of a corgi who had a direct lineage to the Queen's corgis. Sadly, Baxter had just passed away - degenerative spine. Just thought your Mum would want to know.

Hey, Charles,

There is a Creation Museum here in the states - just outside of Cinncinati,Ohio, in Northern Kentucky. I'd like to visit soon. There was an uproar from the secular community over this - Can you imagine? - one little museum attesting to the Creation account of history, and the world goes ballistic? Evolutionists HATE the creation acct.

How is it that you get invited to speak? Who is your audience?

how can anyone be so stupid as to think that these beautiful dancers and their art could have had their genus in the animal kingdom ?
You just have to be either deluded or a total moron not to see the difference
do apes dance, make clothes and costumes ? do mice paint ?
Absolutely, man is distinct from the animal kingdom, but the animal kingdom is fascinating in and of itself reflecting the design of the Creator.

Charles, since you teach creation and debate atheists, do you include the patterns of behavior of different species? For example, the V formation of geese in flight and the efficiency of that? Or, the lifespan and flight of the Monarch butterfly?

With the increase of information, just in the animal kingdom, aren't most people, including scientists doubtful that these things just happened? Yeah, atheists just don't have answers to all these questions.

Oh, I remember a National Geographic special on a bird (don't remember which one) that dances beautifully to attract its mate. It is quite spectacular.

The more of creation that a Christian observes, the more reason to give praise to our Creator. All His works are marvellous!

Candle Lit, ah I thought you were busy doing something for the economy. But hey, no difficult questions? The team here can answer ANYthing, they're amazing!!
. .it is good to be back, John. And, yes, the team is amazing at answering ?s.

So, here goes - We read in Genesis that there was the line of Cain, contrasted with the line of Seth.

Cain's lineage included builders of civilizations. His progeny seems to represent all that is "earthly".

Seth's lineage seems to represent the Spiritual. Genesis 4:25,26 says, "And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew. And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD."

Isn't that interesting? Two lines. Two contrasting lineages. One, earthly. And, one, Spiritual.

We see that same contrast in the relationship between Jacob and Esau.

I haven't had much time to dwell on it, as of late, but I find the contrast interesting.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

Candle Lit, good to hear from you again, whereyabin? I sold another painting on Thursday. It was only £25, but I was so happy, because the lady who bought it was with her hubbie and two kids and when I asked her about her holiday she said they were going home on Saturday and had almost run out of money. ... when I woke up the caravan was shaking because of windy. I daren't venture out, so next week now. There's a bigger market there where I might do better.
Good evening, John,

Yeah, I've missed reading the posts, but I started catching up on Friday. There were some good ones. . .instructive, funny. . .good dialogue.

Oh, I've had to take some continuing ed courses for real estate. I'm keeping my license active in case we sell our home, there won't be that hefty commission to pay.

I'd rather read my Bible or the SA forum boards.

Congratulations on selling another painting. That must be so satisfying - to know that someone appreciates your work, and that, all the while, you are using what God has gifted you to do for His Glory. It's a great way to share your faith, isn't it.

you know, as an aside but when i was a youngster at sea when we still had british flagged ships, all the ships had a portrait of the queen in the saloon, it was a tradition. if it was an old ship the queen was quite young and good looking
Most Excellent Prince,

I was actually thinking of you choosing a landscape painted in watercolor.

Your loyal subject, Candle Lit

Glad you like it john im sure you would get more exposure as a 'local artist' people like the cachet thats what you need to be successful. I was well known for being expensive but nobody seemed to mind !
Prince Charles,

YOU should commission a painting from John. Then, when word gets out, John will have so many requests that he will not be able to fill orders for months.

Soon, galleries will be vying to show his work. He'll be the Thomas Kinkade of the UK. His paintings will have the *Prince Charles* stamp of approval.

That sounds like a marketing plan to me. hmmmm. . .I knew my marketing degree would come in handy one day. Do you think, John will give me a cut?

Oh, and John, if you are listening . . . I think you need to "up" the price. Your work has to be priced just on the edge of what people would be willing to pay. Of course, you have to factor in time and cost of materials, but I would say, no less than 100 pounds. . .why do I not have that lb. symbol on my keyboard??

The Gen 2:9 "tree of life" is NOT typological of Christ. Biblical typologies are MUCH more than two entities having something in common (in this case, "life"). A type is always identified as such in the New Testament. Finding correlations between an O.T. object and Christ is simply finding illustrations, not types. IOW, typology is determined by Scripture. The Holy Spirit inspired the use of types; OTOH, illustrations, analogies, and word associations are the result of man’s study.
The "tree of life" is perhaps SYMBOLIC of Jesus,
and *Rudi*s statement that:
"The tree of life ***IS*** Jesus Christ"
is a REAL s-t-r-e-t-c-h.
DJC49,

I agree with your statement that "The 'tree of life' is perhaps symbolic of Jesus." Perhaps I was not making the distinction between "typology" and "symbolic". Semantics. . .I'm learning.

Thanks, I really appreciate your contributions on these boards.

Typology is a theological doctrine of theory of types and their antitypes found in Scripture.
Even though Rudi is trying to force Jesus as the archetype of the type tree. He is using typology not using allegory.
Thanks, Roger, for making that distinction between "allegory" and "typology".

I think Rudi's typology of Jesus being the "TREE of LIFE" is perfect. He[Jesus] is ETERNAL LIFE, and unless one "EATS [HIS] flesh, and drinks [HIS] blood, he will not inherit eternal life." So, why would you dismiss the "tree of life" as referring to Jesus?

In Rev. the "tree of life" is for the HEALING of the nations. Even so, we know that, "by His [Jesus'] stripes we are HEALED."

Why is this not a good typology? To eat of the tree of life in the Garden, meant to LIVE FOREVER. To "partake" of Christ means to LIVE FOREVER. ONLY in Christ do we have eternal life. Why would we then be given the directive to "eat of the tree of life" if it doesn't mean Jesus? There can't be two sources of eternal life. We know that ONLY in Christ do we have eternal life.

thx candleit i hope you enjoy your trip to the mountains

im not sure by what mechanism you think that the insects would denude the earth of O2 more than say any other creatures ?

Good evening, Charles,

Thanks, it was a perfect day for a drive to the mountains.

I was hurried this morning and wasn't clear concerning my questions. Thank you for answering based on what you understood of my post.

What I meant about the insects was that left to populate without any death, they would fill the air, making it impossible to breathe. Does that sound absurd? Bats eat tons of insects. If they didn't, it seems that all of life would suffer possible extinction. One small change in the delicate balance of creation can have disastrous consequences. Some insects seems to have been designed only to serve as food in the food chain. Maybe you don't consider insects as being subject to the fall.

I haven't followed this discussion closely, but I think you have said that only mammals and humans did not know physical death until after the fall. Plant life was as it is today, and possibly aquatic life. Maybe insects, too? Am I correct?

If you are part of the royal family i often find that one is expected to be an expert on pretty much anything so you can imagine it can get potentialy embarrassing at times, like my visit to the hoover factory i mentioned - what would my subjects and ladies at that have thought if they had known that i had never seen or used one of these 'hoovers' which they were so proud of ?
Its very important on these occasions to be confident and appear to know all about the subject in hand and often people will help you unwittingly by assuming that you kbow more than you do, for instance on that occasion i began 'sweeping' the factory floor with said hoover but they thought i was testing the wheels to see if they would come off sideways !
Charles,

This is too funny!
___________
Now, concerning creation - have you thought about if there were no death as is being described here - after a while the insect population would suck up all the O2??? And, what about plant life? - can you imagine flowers that never die?? Plants were made to have a life cycle. And what would salmon do that swim upstream, spawn and die? Would they then swim back downstream?

Maybe death was to the man - whose life is in the blood?

The tree of life is our Lord Jesus Christ ! And Adam & Eve did eat of that tree every day when they fellowshiped with God in the cool of the day !
So it is the same for us today, salvation is not in a once of decision we once made. Salvation is a relationship with the Father through the prince of life !
The Fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was not the cause of them having their eyes opened , it was their disobedience !
So the tree of life is the continuous relationship with God while Adam and Eve where in obedience !
Their disobedience cause that relationship to be broken ,they died!
In the love of Jesus
Rudi
How beautifully put! I had never thought of it like that.

I'll think of that today as I travel to the mountains to meet a friend, and I'll share it with her.

Thank you, Rudi.

Yeah, it's Friday p.m. . .I guess that's why.

I just had a nice visit with our neighbor's children. They were asking for donations for their swim team. So, we had a nice chat on the porch in the beautiful sunshine. We have had such gloomy weather going into Spring, I was beginning to think it would never lift, but today is perfect! And, everything is in bloom. Just beautiful.

The chatter will probably pick up again in a couple of hours. There seems to be a pattern of activity.

Did I miss something? I am not sure what you mean...
Hi, Alan,

Most of my post was conjecture, and I know that you had reproved DJC for speculating about something that had not been included in Scripture. That's what the "sorry, Alan" was about.

There's nothing wrong with thinking about how things occurred that have not been detailed in Scripture. Most things haven't been detailed, but we know they exist/existed.

So, when I say that the laws of physics were not suspended until "burnt offerings" were mentioned later in Genesis, I'm making a reasonable asumption. At some point early on, man would have figured out how to make fire.

Personally, I think God explained things to Adam. It was the ultimate student/teacher relationship with one of perfect intellect absorbing all that God taught. Adam had language in the beginning because we know that he conversed with God, and he named all the animals. He probably had a written language as well. God probably taught Adam astronomy, science, mathematics, and everything necessary to pass along to succeeding generations for the development of sophisticated societies that we know arose.

Just because it isn't spelled out, doesn't mean it didn't occur.

Well, Prince Charles, you'll be living the lifestyle of royalty in that environment. Not much can compete with the beauty of the Mediterranean. Sounds like the perfect family vacation.
