SERMON INFO
1. A brief outline of the main events.
The rise of the papacy - faithful testimonies to the truth prior to the Reformation - the Reformation itself and the men God used to carry forward the work.

2. The main principles of the Reformation.
Scripture alone - by grace alone - in Christ alone - through faith alone.

3. The Reformation a return to biblical truth and the separation from Rome was fully justified.
Rome denies fundamental teaching of Scripture and lacks the marks of a true church.*

4. Rome is still opposed to biblical truth.
Declares justification by faith alone to be heresy.
Has the papacy changed radically from what it has been? What changes have taken place?

5. Causes of slackening of opposition to Rome.
What is happening in Protestantism?
- Abandonment of the historical position on the Antichrist
- Doctrinal superficiality
- Rome's ability to look tolerant
- corruptions in worship, man-made ordinances in worship leave the door open to man-made doctrines.

*for further elaboration on this point see the Fellowship Meeting on 'The Marks of a true Christian Church.'

“ Great Sermon! ”
Was the Reformation a mistake? Has the Roman Catholic church changed? Should Protestants reunite with Rome? This sermon answers these questions, leaving no doubt that the Reformation was not only necessary, but a tremendous blessing as well!
