I. THE COVENANT RATIFICATION o Important Definitions i. Sacrament: ‘mysterion' & ‘sacramentum.' A pledge of loyalty. ii. Covenant: An official relationship between two parties. iii. Ratification: to affirm or establish; to seal the deal.
o The sacrament of the Lord's Supper is the Covenant ratification ceremony of the New Covenant. i. The L.S. is about our relationship with Christ ii. Bread & wine: It is not about a change in substance, it is about a change in your circumstance. iii. Celery, Bread, and Wine.
II. THE COVENANT REMINDER o A Biblical reminder: The call for remembrance is not to communicate something in the past, but to communicate a reality that is eternally present.
o The Lord's Supper can never be merely a memorial, but must always be recognized and participated in as an actual means of grace. 1 Cor. 10:15-16
