SERMON INFO
Two main views.
Traducianism (Propagation) – That the soul is procreated from one or both parents along with the body.
Creationism – That the soul is immediately created by God and infused at the point of conception.

Traducianism Considered.

Application of traducian view of uniqueness of the creation of Adam's soul (Gen.2:7) must be applied to Eve's formation from Adam's rib as well as his descendents. Gen.46:26 and Heb. 7:9-10 considered. Division of 'spirit' unknown in Scripture. Angels, as purely spiritual beings, do not procreate. Claim that traducianism explains transfer. Only guilt of Adam's first transgression imputed to his ordinary posterity, not all his sins or those of intervening generations of forefathers. Westminster doctrine of Covenant of Works. Errors concerning infant innocence.

Biblical Evidence for Creationism.

a)Eccles.12:7. b.) Zech.12:1 c.)Heb12:9 d) Creationism compatible with the uniqueness of the six days of creationism. Direct creation in the invisible and spiritual realm possible after six days of creation as surely as 'recreation in the spiritual realm (the new birth) takes place before physical aspect of the new creation at the Last Day. e) The corruption of the souls God creates does not make God the author of sin.

Conclusions.

Creationism correct as almost unanimously held by the Reformed. Caution required. Atheistic purely materialist view of man unliveable. We believe in the Invisible God who invisibly creates the souls of all and regenerates his elect.
